Socialism Experiment Topic

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire class. That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan".. All grades will be averaged and everyone will receive the same grade so no one will fail and no one will receive an A.... (substituting grades for dollars - something closer to home and more readily understood by all).

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy. As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.

The second test average was a D! No one was happy.

When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.

As the tests proceeded, the scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.

To their great surprise, ALL FAILED and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great, but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed. Could not be any simpler than that.

Lessons learned:

1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!

5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.

What exactly is meant by "Obama's policies are socialist"?

Seamar stands by a classic definition of socialism. Obama doesnt fit a very old and very narrow definition of Socialism.

Obama does want income redistributed. He wants to scoialize the medical system. He wants more day to day government control over business.

These are all socialist beliefs.

Social-security is income redistribution.
Income taxes are income redistribution,
Subsidies for farmers are income redistribution.
Tax loopholes are income redistribution.
Tax breaks for certain businesses are income redistribution.

And property taxes, which are based on the value of the property are outright Marxist. "From each according to his ability; to each according to his needs." If your fire department is funded this way then you are supporting a bunch of out and out Marxists. Be sure to point that out to them the next time you see one.

I am sure glad that no conservative or tea party member takes advantage of any of these programs.

No they are not...

Social Security started as a retirement plan, and can still be one with a few logical fixes.

Income tax is only redistribution if you spend it wrong.

Subsidies for farmers is just government control of prices and production.

How can the taxes and the breaks both be redistribution?

Property taxes are the most capitalist. The bigger your house the more you pay to put out the fire. Income taxes are marxist, but we are trying to fix that.

None of this addresses the Obama need to bash anyone making money and blame everything on them. It doesnt explain how he uses the crash to increase taxes and handouts. Obama is committed to a "Fairer" America. Everything he does screams that.

Last time I went to my accountant  he didn't ask me if I wanted to pay social security and income taxes or not. It wasn't a choice. SO, the conservatives and tea-party members don't have much of a choice BUT to participate in these programs. That doesn't mean that they agree with them.

The progressive income tax system is income redistribution. But that doesn't make Obama socialist. And his policies aren't socialist.

"Spreading the wealth around" sounds like socialism.

Specifically targeting the rich with tax increases to subsidize entitlements to the poor sounds like socialism.

Robin Hood was a a socialist.

Obama is Robin Hood.

A 3% marginal tax increase on top income brackets isn't socialism. Entitlements are not "Obama's policies." They've been around for decades and are extremely popular with Republicans and Democrats.

Stop listening to Limbaugh and think for yourself.

Marginal is a term people use when it doesn't affect them.
