What part of this did you not understand?:

"At this time, banks were afraid to lend to each other or anyone else, this is what really started the Great Recession on Main Street. Companies use this borrowing to finance their business. For example, Target will take a 30 day loan to pay for its inventories and payroll. Without any way to borrow as usual, the layoffs started."

Here's the sequence of events

1)  Banks stopped lending
2)  Companies could not get loans to finance their businesses.

(This was the economy crashing)

3)  Companies started to layoff employees

blah, blah, blah

Did you somehow miss all this when it was occurring in 2008?

So you're changing your story now?

So the economy crashed before the layoffs? You're somehow separating the layoffs from the cause of the recession? Interesting logical gymnastics over something that doesn't really matter. The disappearing demand and the recession go hand in hand. We aren't fully recovered until the demand is back.

What part of the above post did you not understand?

The slowdown in consumer spending was preceeded by layoffs.
The layoffs were preceeded by the banks no longer lending to businesses (or other banks).
The banks stopping lending was preceeded by a series of cascading financial failures.

Do you not see a link?

And for the eleventy-millionth time: were you comatose in 2008 when all this was happening?

Layoffs are a slowdown in spending. All spending is what matters. Aggregate demand.

What part do you not understand? Yes, lots of crazy things happened in real estate and in finance immediately before that caused layoffs. What puts us in a recession, though, is lack of demand. And what gets the economy back to full strength is a resurgence in demand.

Banks stopped lending.  Companies started layoffs.

This was the economy crashing.

Then people stopped spending, because they were losing their jobs.  Because the economy was in the process of crashing.

Cause --> effect.

Again, did you miss all this when it was happening?
This explanation was right. Well, other than the last three paragraphs.

I didn't even bother to read it.  I saw it was a poll and knew you'd doubled down on your assholishness.   And knew full well it was plenty to give you a vacation.   Worked better than I'd planned.

Now, that aside, do you understand that all facets of the economy affect consumer confidence?   That it's just not a monthly unemployment figure?
Liar. You read the **** out of that poll. Then you considered voting. Then you red lined it because it contained words you didn't understand.

You've not been paying attention.  I have a dozen or so blocked because I have no desire to read their nonsense?   Do you think, when I set you up, that I care to read your nonsense?    That makes you dumber than I thought.

Then block me. I don't care. You add nothing to this conversation. Or keep reading the stuff I write and revealing yourself to be a gigantic moron.

I've already told you that you amuse me.   The arrogant ******* with the unbelievable desire to be right act is funny to me.   I especially like it when you bring up a 3 month old topic in numerous threads because you felt you were right back in December.   It's so ridiculous that it's humorous.

Without me, you don't even exist.   No one else with bother spending as much time responding to your nonsense.   You should actually thank me.   Then you can explain how lack of spending caused the recession again.   That's a good one.

I don't exist without you? No one else will respond? Interesting that you consider Tec, bistiza, swamp, and others "no one." If you want to continue, that's fine by me. I'm not the one tattling.

Also, I love this line:

Then you can explain how lack of spending caused the recession again.   That's a good one.

It's amazing.

It is.  Because you just don't want to admit you mis-spoke or, better yet, that you don't get it.
3/5/2013 2:41 PM
Let's just assume I don't get it. Explain it to me.
3/5/2013 2:43 PM

And, yes, you don't exist without me.   I wasn't around this weekend.   Posted in the AM on Saturday.   You posted a couple of times the same morning.  Nothing until I came back on Monday.    There's been a dozen or so pages in a day and a half since.    Without me, you don't exist.

3/5/2013 2:45 PM
Pass.  I've watched tec attempt to explain cause/effect to you for 10 pages.   You're not going to get it.

Or you couldn't explain it if your life depended on it.
