I am convinced there is plenty of PA's and IP's available in the career mode for a single season format. there will be too many players in a decade format and it will become an allstar league. I am not interested if we go that route, sorry.

the decade idea is a good one, but i was really big on the idea of a year-by-year progressive and don't want to stray from that idea.  i do think 12 teams is the answer and i know there will be plenty of PA & IP this way.  we will fill in the empty roster spots with some scrub players as needed.

bnicarlson, i believe you have to put mlb in front of the numbers.  mlb45783.

I've created a few theme leagues in the past and, if I remember correctly, they don't show up until the creator fills in his team. Of course, with a draft, this would be impossible so it's got to be some kind of progressive setting.

I'm not absolutely certain but I believe your'e right, the league (progressive or otherwise)  won't show up until gigrant has a complete team.

For research, I set up a new league. I can switch leagues once gigrant has filled his team and 45783 is available for everybody.

I like the idea of the single season also, You might want to consider starting in 1903 when both leagues were formed and they started playing the world series. There are more players available then.

 I run a progressive league now in 1916 that started in 1901. It is a 12 team league. Use AAA the 1st few seasons but now we don't. There were both leagues starting in 1901-they just didn't start the World Seies until later

Question

In the career mode, WIS shows players available for all years from their first season (no minimum AB or IP as in the usual single season mode) to their last  season even though they may have been inactive some years in between. Example: C Billy Maloney was active in 1901 & 1902, inactive 1903 & 1904, and active from 1905-1908. Searches by year in the career mode show him available from 1901-1908 even though he was not active in 1903 and 1904. Will we do the same for this league ?

Obviously that's great for players like Ted Williams, who missed years in WW2 and the Korean War. He would be available from 1939-1960 even though he missed 1943-1945 and 1952 and played very little in 1953.

I am OK either way, just want to be sure how we are going to handle this.

that's part of the fun.  i totally planned on using all players through seasons they missed for various reasons such as war. good way to figure out how many homers Ted would've hit or how many game Feller would've won.

i will try to find some owners for those last couple of spots in the league and see if we can get a draft rolling before too long.

As I have mentioned before, I will be out of town from 3/9 to 3/16 inclusive. If we can't be off the clock during that period, I can't play. I can manage to make a pick every day but can't be tied to any specific time. Before 3/9 and after 3/16 I am fine.
 
I really want to be in the league because I love the concept but this trip has been planned for more than 6 months and initial drafts are too important to try to come up with long proxy lists.
