draft order?
3/4/2013 10:53 PM
So, every draft (after the initial draft) each team will be drafting different amount of players? As long as no one has had their eligibility up, you could theoretically keep your same exact team and not have to even draft anyone? I'm fine with this, just want to make sure I understand it.
3/4/2013 10:55 PM
that is correct mag as i understand it
3/4/2013 11:02 PM
Wondering if Ed Siever was omitted? Pitched over 1,500 innings from '01-'04 and '06-'08.
3/4/2013 11:40 PM
going to bed. gigrant, i sent you a list of proxies for 1st round as it looks like, i think, i'll have an early pick
3/4/2013 11:59 PM
i got it stlnathan.  draft order coming in a few minutes.  i will look at ed siever first though - i may have omitted him in error.
3/5/2013 12:07 AM
yep - good catch, that was my error.  he has been added in order for salary ($4,994,436)
3/5/2013 12:12 AM
gigrant- i may have found another but am not sure if he was eligible.
Bob Wicker. Only 3 innings in 1901 but 1,036 from '02 - '06. Are there playing time minimums required for career mode?
3/5/2013 12:13 AM
great question.  i'm going by the first year avail in WIS, and he didn't have enough innings to make the cut there, so he will wait until '02 to be available.  i want WIS to recognize the guys from the start of the 1st season.  from there we will go til retirement but all players will be available during war years.  now if they came out of retirement to get one at-bat at age 53, tough titties.  i can't handle that silly circus stuff (Arlie Latham at age 49 stealing a base, or that migit guy Bill Veeck sent to the plate once).  we may set a minimum innings/at bat limit at some point for elgibility.  but for the most part we can tell who played and who showed up for one or two games only as a gate-attraction.  i guess common sense rules the day at the moment.

best thing to do is, in career mode, is search with the years set at 1901 and see who shows up.  this league will be a tad bit imperfect as we start, but the idea is to have it perfected before 1902 hits.
3/5/2013 12:26 AM
Ok thanks for clarifying. You also answered my next question. Glad you are eliminating the crazy oddball circumstances. Otherwise Nick Altrock would have been eligible until 1933!
3/5/2013 12:33 AM
the draft order was a complete shock to me.  never bothered looking at people's ratings.  ok, here it is, and remember if you want to move your pick you can trade it with someone else if they are willing (ie: if #2 wants #5, and #5 agrees, they swap) but do it before your or their first pick.  also, remember this is a snake draft, so #1 will get first over all but last in 2nd round, then first in 3rd, last in 4th, ect.  i will start another thread for the draft, but here's the order:

1. szczubelek
2. cardsfan
3. topkat
4. dspahlinger
5. Bullmoose
6. btoy1975
7. stinathan
8. magjmagj
9. bnicarlson
10. deafheaven
11. blueorange
12. gigrant

i am open to trading with anyone who would rather pick in my position, mainly as a easy out for anyone who didn't like their position.  i have no preferences, other then cheddar cheese over swiss and brunettes over blondes.  look for the other post regarding the draft.
3/5/2013 12:35 AM
i wonder how ratings work? from what i saw everyone except btoy has a lot more experience here than i do. i guess that doesn't count for much with the ratings?
3/5/2013 9:26 AM
when you win more than you loose, ratings go up.  Lose more than you win, they go down.  Start at 1400 when you sign up, then move around from there.  mine were deep in the negatives for a while, then slowly rebounded.  Some people are less interested in winning and more interested in match-ups and interesting combos.
