What remains of the unnamed "New Big East" has changed, with the addition of Tulsa yesterday.  Current conference membership is:
Cincinnati
UConn
Temple
So. Florida
Cent. Florida
Memphis
Houston
SMU

Tulsa, Tulane and East Carolina join in 2014. Originally, East Carolina was football-only but has now decided to join with all sports.
Navy (football only) joins the group in 2015.

As for Conference USA, Tulsa's loss would leave them with an un-even 13 teams. Currently, they are:
Charlotte
Fla. International
Fla. Atlantic
Louisiana Tech
Marshall
Middle Tennessee
No. Texas
Old Dominion
Rice
 So. Miss
UAB
UTEP

Teams mentioned as a possible 14th member include: Army, Western Kentucky, Arkansas St, Troy, Louisiana-Monroe, and Louisiana-Lafayette

Those look like two absolutely horrid conferences. I hope tickets for athletic events will be given away at the door.

Conference USA is nearly unrecogizable.  Of it's original 1995 members, only So. Mississippi remains.

These 2 are gross, hope the 7 Catholic schools keep the Big East moniker though.

That's already been decided. The Big East is the Catholic 7 plus Butler, Xavier and Creighton. The  remaining teams haven't decided on a conference name, although 'America 12' has been mentioned

Western Kentucky is joining Conference USA, leaving the Sun Belt where they've been a member since 1982. The Sun Belt has lost 4 other teams in the last year to Conference USA....No. Texas, Florida International, Florida Atlantic, and Middle Tennessee

Appalachian St and Georgia Southern are upgrading their football from FCS to FBS and joining the Sun Belt. They were previously in the Southern Conference.  Liberty is also interested in upgrading football and joining the Sun Belt. James Madison is another possibility

Idaho and New Mexico State are also joining the Sun Belt, for football only

The Missouri Valley, looking for a replacement for Creighton, is talking to Missouri-Kansas City, Valparaiso, Chicago Loyola, and Illinois-Chicago

The Southern Conference, down to 9 teams after losing College of Charleston, Appalachian and Georgia Southern, may expand. Schools mentioned include Mercer, UNC-Wilmington, East Tennessee, Gardner Webb, and VMI.

and it will part of the new FoxSports1 national network that debuts this summer as a direct competitor to espn.

I believe they have agreed to a 10 year media contract worth around $500-600 million.  Which is about 3-4 times what the BigEast schools were getting from their current contract with espn.
I'd imagine we'll see a BigEast game followed by a Pac 12 game as part of a nightly double header similar to what espn does.  Plus they could move play-by-play man Gus Johnson over to some of these games from the work he does on the BigTen Network (which Fox owns 49% of)

They are mentioning other possible new members for the Big East in 2014.  It will be interesting.  There are some current ADs who like 10 schools so they can all play each other twice and there would be no need for seperate divisions.  If they add two more schools there would be an East and West division.  I would think St. Louis would be the addition for the West, but who for the East?

And there is spectulation that the Big Ten is going to target the ACC again.  That could open up the door for UCon and/or Cincinnati to join the ACC.  This alignment thing is nowhere close to being finished.

Dayton's often mentioned but they wouldn't be an Eastern school. LaSalle's a possibility but Villanova might object to having another Philly school there.Another attractice possibility is VCU. For Eastern private schools, there's Siena, Niagara, and Iona.

I think Richmond would be a good fit: private; geographically a fit for the East; nice facility; good fan support.

Richmond plays football which might be an issue with the league. Adding football teams caused problems for the 'original' Big East

Yea, but so does Villanova.  And Dayton plays D2.

I heard they reserved a bunch of "America12" URL's

The American Athletic Conference, the AAC.  Not to be confused in any way, shape or form with the ACC.  Soon to be found on ESPN Ocho on Tuesday and Thrursday nights during football season, fighting ratings wars with the MAC. But they may have a problem using "AAC".  That name is already trademarked to Anderson Air Conditioning in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
