This is my answer:
Because the production of child porn is so harmful, everything associated with child porn, including simple possession, needs to be illegal. Regardless of whether or not simply watching it is harmless.
Can the same be said about gay marriage? Is there any aspect of gay marriage that is at all harmful? If not, child porn is completely irrelevant.
So there is additional criteria for determining whether or not something should be allowed that goes beyond:
a) Makes the person happy
b) Doesn't affect anybody else
c) Doesn''t force anybody else to do it
d) Is harmless.
What is the additional criteria?
