Philadelphia's Schilling is the second player taken who has never been exposed before. Not the last.  It's tempting to take another, but the White Sox SP need is too great:

Kevin Appier, Royals.

I definitely left Schilling unprotected in a previous R5 leg, but it may predate your records. (god, that makes me feel old.)

This is the 16th draft for which I have records (i.e., Legs 25-40), but I say stuff like "never been exposed" because I get tired of saying "not exposed in last 16 legs".  I'm counting on you guys to translate each time.  I wish I had more than 40% of the records!

Pretty sure this means that rbow has now, somehow, gotten both Mike Schmidt and Joe Morgan the only times they were exposed
First time for Morgan, but Schmidt's been there twice.  Indeed, rbow923 got him for his Blue Jays when spoonfed dangled him in Leg 35, but llcoach got him from mllama54 in Leg 27, also to go play in Toronto.

Morgan is still not the last first-timer...

And it's not like rbow had a high draft choice either.  As tempting as Morgan was, the Pirates pitching is so bad that I had to go that direction.
Morgan was the guy who tempted me, but White Sox pitching ain't any better than Pirates.

Okay, I just went and looked.  Pirates pitching is, in fact, worse.

RedSox record in this theme is surprisingly low they must be underpeformers. Ellsbury would've been on my team but not a top choice. glad Lynn made it through I almost protected him instead of Lowe who I don't liike much. really surprised to get Morgan.

Lynn (who I mention because rbow did) has made it through Round 1 five of the six times he's been unprotected.

Sorry for the hold-up guys (and yes, I am a Seattle guy - going to the Safe tonight in fact!)  I'm still trying to figure out how leaving both Morgan and Ripken unprotected was more baffling than Marichal - I'll take Dave Righetti - NYY
Ripken's been exposed 3 times now and snapped up in Round 1 all 3 times.

Yeah, the Pirates are a team you don't really think about when it comes to bad pitching, but other than the Rockies and Rays, hard to think of a team with worse options.  And they're all mine, baby!

David Cone - KCR
4/16/2013 6:23 PM
That takes the Royals off the board.
4/16/2013 6:26 PM
I have pini's proxy.  Leaving work, will post it when I get home after 7pm EDT.
4/16/2013 6:48 PM
Pini takes Omar Vizquel - CLE
4/16/2013 7:26 PM
OF Darin Erstad - LAA
4/16/2013 7:34 PM
Angels now off the board.
4/16/2013 7:42 PM
Darin Erstad will forever hold a special place in my heart for inexplicably winning MVP the season I used Anaheim.
