12 x 12 v3 - A.L. Draft Thread Topic

I think we all kind of feel that way.  I was really happy the way my team started (Koufax, Drysdale), but as the draft rolled on, I kept having to make tough choices.  Sure, I added T.Williams and Pesky with the '46 Dobson pick, but that also meant I didn't get '97 Pedro or '64 Howard (the other two picks I was considering at that time).  Now, my catching is weak and my #3-4 SPs are Dennis Martinez and sub-200-inning Bret Saberhagen.   I really wanted Fingers to anchor my bullpen, so the '81 Cooper pick pretty much means that I can't add Gehrig with my eventual '35 Murphy pick.

We could run this draft with the same people and the same nominated players and if just one person changed an early round pick, everybody's rosters would be very much different.

And for those who have played in the 16x16 theme, I actually think the 12x12 draft is harder.  Sure, we get to use 13 teammates instead of 9, but the one-teammate-per-player rule (with the one exception) makes the last few rounds very stressful.  In the 16x16 draft, the last few rounds are usually just trying to save salary.  Here, in the 12x12, I need to get certain players for my roster to work, else I have to change everything.  Flexibility (drafting guys with more than one usable tammate) is of paramount importance.

You can't take '59 Doby. You will see on page one, that version shows "xxxxxx", which means it's unavailable. Donburgh already took 59 Doby (White Sox) while dcmatcheck took the Tigers version of 59 Doby.

2005 Moises Alou
5/28/2013 12:01 PM
1993 Alou 3836811

I had my heart set on a 2006 Alou/Bonds platoon. Maybe I should have taken Alou last round and saved Cey for this round. At least I got Wetteland in the bargain.

I wanted Wetteland, but couldn't afford him...

Also, guys, as it stands, I've got a very precise way to wrap up my team (I'm not saying it's a good team, far from it), so if you could avoid picking the guys I want, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

I have site-mailed good_beef on his illegal pick.

I also have BastanRedSox' proxy (he and good_beef need the same 3 players)

A couple of people can close out their teams  (mllama54 takes Drysdale, then Alou; dcmatcheck can take his Cey and Urbina)

Sorry about that.  I won't even be using Bonds- I needed a 2nd baseman and Durham was the best available.
