You know where talent mattered? GD 1.0. And contrary to a lot of the uninformed bloviating you may hear from people who couldn't figure it out, gameplanning actually mattered, too, when talent was within reasonable ranges.
You know where talent matters somewhat less? GD 2.0. And gameplanning matters, but not in good ways... not in ways that can be figured out... not in ways that are reproducable with much confidence.
You know where talent and gameplanning don't really seem to matter much, if any? GD 3.0, thus far.
So which direction are we trying to take this game, again??
I fully agree GT. Too much complaining about getting over run by a good team has made this game as bad as 2.0. I ran about 100 test games with my Valpo team against a sim in my conference with advantages at every position. Some of the advantages like my OL vs their DL were over 10 points (80-69). I didn't figure it out fully, but I am guessing I had about an 8 point advantage overall at all positions. I even broke down and used the same exact gameplans as the sims. Of those 100 games I simmed, I won 55 and the sim won 45. There were very few blowouts on my side but of course the sim had about the same number. With that kind of advantage, you would assume a heavier number of wins, like in the 90+ range. With this new setup, it has gotten bad and I have lost faith that this game can be fixed.
