In attempting to brag about the parity in my world in our classifieds add, it occurred to me that having some sort of "parity factor" would be a pretty cool thing.  I would start with subtracting the lowest win total from the highest.  The lower this number is, the more parity there is.

Can anyone add to this?

sure, theres a suggestion forum for ideas like this :)

I'd actually expand it, what if the world had 1 owner dissapear or nuke a franchise? it would reflect poorly on the parity factor even if the world was as balanced as any other.

Something like top 5 win totals, minus bottom 5 win totals, divded by 5 w/ a 5 year rolling average.  Then allow that number to be saved so that it can be easily found so a prospective owner can see if a world is balanced typically or leaning towards a few teams typically.  Perhaps what you see today in a world isn't what you'd expect from his 20 year history.

I don't think that I was attempting to get WiS's attention.  I was just wondering if there are any math types that can come up with a nice tidy equation that would make sense.   I like what you have done with the idea.   I'm going to do a little rankings list based on this equation.  It'll take me a while to come up with numbers, but if you think that your world has good or poor parity, say so here, and I'll add it to the list.

Cooperstown checks in at 33.52, but is only that high because of season 25's 44.6 bringing up the average.  The other four seasons have average differences of 30.4, 30.2, 30.6 and 31.8
6/27/2013 5:11 PM

2 MWR casualites and a replacement owner.  And the other 2 from the "bottom 5" were MWR casualties this season.

Mantle's last 5 seasons = 41.2, 28.6, 31.8, 26.4, 32.6.

Five year average of 32.12.

Top 5 minus Bottom 5??
6/27/2013 5:51 PM
The average of the top 5 minus the bottom 5, over last five completed seasons.

Only a third of the way through this season, but i was just commenting on how great the competition is in Rickey this season.
At the 54 game mark there were 6 teams tied for the best record at 32-22 (under.600) (3 of them in the same division) there were 5 other teams within 2 games of those 6, and only 9 teams had a winning % less than .450.

Rickey's last 5 completed seasons = 37.8, 42.8, 42.8, 44.2, 34.4.

5 year average = 40.4

I mentioned this in the World Ranking thread.   I think the crap teams define the world.  All worlds have good teams/owners.

I was taking League Average in RA vs RA from bottom 8 teams in wins(not RA because maybe good teams are winning 9-7 games).
6/28/2013 1:48 PM
In Coop  717 AVG, 769 for bottom 9(tie with 8).   2 of those 9 were MWR casualites.

Last complete season in MG  706/769

There already is a parity factor.  It's called franchise rankings.
