I was concerned about the All-star aspect of taking the best teams. A couple things made me not so worried about it though - 1st, RWOPR isn't terribly accurate. My limited analysis showed that most teams finished their seasons not in the same place that RWOPR predicted, and some of the time the difference was rather large. 2nd, we are scheduling with the rogelio method this time, so the #1s don't all play each other like they did previously. Of course, I guess its possible the all star" line up could be like having #1s in all 6 slots, so that would cancel this out...
I'd rather not have a hybrid at all, but with only 5 eligible conferences we either lose a game and run with the 5 (not something I want to do, which is why I didn't even mention or include it above) or we use a hybrid of some sort.
If we have to use a hybrid of some sort, I kind of favor a broad spectrum, since there are 3 5 team conferences that have never been a part of the MUSDUC who want to participate in some way, plus the 2 recently deposed traditional member conferences. My thinking is that by taking 1 from each (and 1 more I suppose to get to 6) they'd all get a little representation, but I certainly see the value of limiting it as much as possible as well...
If we go with what shucky summarized (and that I think Pete suggested) I believe the North Central should probably get 1st shot since I believe they have 5 coaches who all have expressed a desire to participate.
