Assuming a revised 6 conference Challenge and a 5 game commitment:

Should the conference that finishes in last place be relegated out and let another conference in? If that were the case scheduling would need to wait til after the Challenge games are all played obviously...

No, keep the original conferences unless personnel changes make it necessary for a change

38%

Sure, keeps it interesting and gives other conferences a chance to get interested and take part.

A couple of different seeding suggestions have been put forth.

How should teams be seeded for the MUSDUC?

Use the average of the conference record of each team from the preceding 2 seasons (CAA-Heartland method)

38%

Allow each conference to determine their own seeding based on their own methods, with one representative coach acting as "commissioner"

34%

Base the seeds on a formula that examines the current OVR and class of each team (the DAC Snowball method)

25%
Sort the teams alphabetically (the victorzhao method!)

3%

Something else (if you vote for this and fail to leave details below I will bring a pox upon your house...)

If seeding results in a rematch of games from the previous season should teams be slid up or down a slot to avoid rematches?

Yes, rematches are no fun, I want to play someone new

3%

No, rematches are fine and can help foster friendly rivalries

Locked the polls at 13:20 EDT. We have a quorum and we have winners in all categories. I will seed and update shortly.

Here are the seeds from all participating conferences. I seeded everyone who said they wanted in, and took the top 6 from each conference for the Challenge.

All my games have been submitted for acceptance.

Thanks for setting this up!

8/2/2013 1:03 PM
All but one of my games have been scheduled, just waiting on the last coach to accept the challenge.

All games are scheduled. Inaugural MUSDUC kicks off next season Good Luck everyone!

Ok, I believe we have the Penn St and the Southern interested in joining next season. I suppose it is now time to discuss how to handle relegation.

I propose the following base rule and then some options: The 6th place conference after results are tallied will face relegation out of next season's MUSDUC if there are any eligible conferences waiting to participate, UNLESS another currently participating conference fails to submit 6 qualified teams/coaches, in which case waiting list conferences will be used to replace the no longer eligible conference. If there are still waiting list conferences and the 6th place finisher has not already been demoted due to eligibility, then the 6th place conference is relegated.

Now, there are a number of options when deciding how to select the replacement conference if more than one are interested and qualified.

1. First come, first served. The conferences will enter the next challenge either as replacements for ineligible conferences or to replace the 6th place finisher in the order that they notified me they were interested and qualified.

2. Some kind of mini-tourney to determine the winner. This might mean a 2 season turn around for coming and going and might be a pain in the *** to coordinate, but it could also be kinda fun, and it also guarantees some decent non conference match-ups for teams not in the challenge.

3. Compare the head to head winning percentage of games played between waiting list conferences. I think most of us play enough other teams that there would surely be some games to look at for this.

4. Lady Luck. Randomly determine which qualified conference(s) get to move up.

5. ? Anything else I've not thought of??

I vote leaving it up the the commissioner (you). You have put all the time into this, so I'm comfortable with you deciding however you want.
