Random Big Three - FULL Topic

i was lucky to get three scorers who i actually want taking the shots...no paint scoring(just didnt like how yao fit) but i dont mind these 3 carrying the load...teams with weak perimeter d will get abused....ho grant! goggles for everyone...no 91-92/93-94 badass grant but hes still very solid in this league and fits nicely with this team....somehow missed big bens 24m orlando season(right after penny and before tmac) but still got a nice 15m version thanks to tmacs pistons days...rockets mutombo is another 15m stud at c...always good to have a barry brother on your team....he and ward give some nice 3pt shooting....liking this team a lot...big 3 should score efficiently, decent on the boards, and im probably one of the better defensive teams...only got to 19300 mins but i got the team i wanted...should be a playoff team

damn...thats a tough team...but short the 25k from the big 3 right?

Ended up with 19640 mins.  I like what I have here.  Solid D and decent rebounding (or good for this league)  Bryant will cover PG minutes when Paul is out to stop usage penalties and help with assist numbers.  Chandler at PF with Robinson at C is pretty awesome.  Bruce Bowen will do nothing but shoot threes, play D, and soak up 31 minutes per game.

Overall I feel like I am in a good spot.

Sorry to disappoint everyone here, but there is NO way my team is going to be any good. We can talk rebounding all day, but I had to go low usage in order to get to 19,000 minutes and we have nowhere near enough for this team to make sense.

Looking back, Payton's high usage teammates were Pierce (Blocked), Kobe (Blocked), Shaq (Blocked), Wade (Blocked), Kemp (Blocked), Vin Baker (no room), Rashard Lewis (Nope), Pretty Sam (no room), Antoine Walker (not a chance)

How about X Man, Ellis, Kemp (who isn't blocked), Jefferson, Patterson, Kukoc, and Redd are all over 20% and don't forget about Brent Barry

Sorry, I meant to say that I couldn't use Kemp because Daniels and Russell only leave 16 minutes for power players. I do have a Barry season, but he's not in the 20s. Plus the Barry I want to use is giving me a lot of minutes so there isn't much room for 03 Redd.

McDaniel only played 15 games with Payton, and in that time his efg was 47, while his usage was 28. Not a good combo.
I guess I can sacrifice secondary stats to get Redd or kukoc at SF. The problem I had with them was that their cost per minute left my team in the 18,5 range.

Finding room for Ellis or Ricky Pierce at SF is my next option. I'll keep trying.

This will take me a few more days to put together a competitive team.

Interestingly every one of my guys was on the Knicks in the 70s.  Unfortunately once you get past the blocked players there aren't a ton of studs on the 70s Knicks...

And by competitive I mean a team that can compete for 20 wins.

But even though looking through I'm in a real bad spot I'm going to do my best to make sure this team isn't as bad as it could be.

The good news is I have 2 seasons of Truck Robinson to choose from.  And that guy isn't too bad.

PS question can we have multiple seasons of the same player?  2 Trucks would help my team out some.

No clones, ivnabru.

I'm going to spend a long time working on my Dantley/Durant/Ewing team, since it is the only team that I have that will be competitive. I'm still short on rebounds and assists. I'm not sure how I'm going to make that work.

Andrew Philip is sneaky.  A good job of minimizing Johnston and finding assists in an era bereft of a designated assist leader.  When you look at the league in the 50's-mid 70's you see everybody passing for the most part although point guards do lead still, but in the current era we see guys with 30 and 40% assists regularly.

Really I think you did as well as you could there.
Thanks.  I tried my *** off to make something resembling a competent squad...  but it has serious flaws.

I am going to have to play Lucas 11 minutes at SF a game at 93% which also sucks.  -2 here I come.

Just submitted my team - for not, at least.

Another thing to consider if we want to do this concept (which I like) again, for balance is...

...maybe we (you, or whomever) customize the (exclusive player) list beyond the salary requirement. I say this because as I was doing my team I came to realize that one of the aspects of this that might be a bit unfair, depending on draw, is the amount of players available to you. For instance, West and Wade, for me, have only played on one team. Wallace has played on numerous teams, so he has a larger selection of unique (though terrrrrible) teammates to chose from. Other participants are probably in varying degrees of this, from more fortunate to worse. I'm not complaining, I was able to put together enough minutes and I'm ok with my squad. I was just thinking that maybe for future leagues we could amend the list a bit to take into account such things. I'm guessing this is a reason some people are having difficulty putting together a squad to their liking (lack of resources).
