Eh - that's a little simplistic Nate. It's pretty clear that if your best 19600 minutes cost 46 mil and your opponents best 19600 cost 50 mil you're at a disadvantage. Salary is obviously not the end-all, be-all but it's a solid enough gauge of a team's ability. I agree your team can still be better than teams with fewer minutes that aren't well put together, the problem is that plenty of other owners will have well-built teams that pack more bang for the buck than yours. That's your problem.

Hi nate. I am listening but I have another question. In this league how can a team with 22K minutes drafted end up with a winning record? I don't think that 's a feat that has ever been done before.
The only 'ship I won was with 22k minutes drafted.

You tend to draft a lot of partial season guys right ash? When I started in the 52 mil draft I was told Quality mattered more than quantity in the 52 mil draft.. Thus why Bill Walton gets drafted so high. The surcharge on higher minute guys really throws these calculations off.

Now clearly a team with Wilt is going to have lower minutes usually.. because his gigantic salary leads to that.. unless you are natenoy that is.

My Wilt team had 19800 minutes drafted, I was in a salary crunch and had to use I think four or five nearly min salary seasons.

That being said, I think it can be done with 22k but it's a challenge. I had some very high minute expensive parts around Wilt.

Badja,

My takeaway from this ODL is learning the floor for assists in the sim, a mistake I'll NEVER make again.

Point well taken tar. However my point is that having excess minutes is not the kiss of death per se in this league.

Now ash you beat the late great 98average in that finals so it doesn't surprise me at all the your 22K minute team won that one. Where are the old man's power rankings??? I actually like his draft this time better than last season when he lost all of those bets lol. I didn't love the Kirilenko pick but the team defense is pretty awesome. Moses and Mourning will crush inside. Moses IMO is really the second fiddle offensively in this league on a title contender.

Interesting squad malone.  Great rebounding, great efg%, but seems light on ast% (unless you're starting Price instead of Wallace) and maybe def.
8/1/2013 11:24 PM
Starting Price, Curry, Barkley, Evans, and Daniels because defense obviously doesn't matter...lol

I went with the 1900 minute 100 D Wallace off the bench for the added efficiency and Przybamznbvauery49wfanls;zadsx for covering PF and C minutes.  My extra guys are going to be fun and interesting.

BTW Nate, I hope you still plan on breaking down stats, etc.  I find that insight helpful.  The problem is that many stats don't mean squat in the sim.  We need to figure out which ones are the most important (eFG, rebounding, tov, etc.)
8/2/2013 9:35 AM
Nothing too scary here.  eFG doens't make up for lack of defense.  I'd say about a 45 win team if I'm in the right division.

Well nate I play tested your team's projected roster against my team's projected roster. Your team surprised me by winning 4 out of 14 games. That projects out to about 24 wins on the season for you. Granted my team should be one of the better ones so I'll will forecast up to 35 wins for your team. What do you think?
