Gair Allie hurts, one season in his career, and he hit .199 and yet still somehow accumulated 508 PAs and thus will eat up 1.96M of my cap space.

simisox:  I did see Gair Allie's stats when his page came up.  You might be better off starting him and trying to stack the rest of the lineup.  Could he field the position?  The 1954 Pirates were a pretty bad team.

buckyblues:  Welcome!  You are owner #24, and here are your 12 pages:

1.  1951 National League Fielding Leaders [lists 5 leaders for games, putouts, assists, errors, fpct, for every position; just make sure the two guys you take are listed on that page somewhere]
2.  C  Bob Montgomery 1970-79  [a Fenway favorite]
3.  P  Charlie Schmutz 1914-15
4.  * P  Dave Smith 1984-85  [Angels player with no sim seasons ... not the Astros reliever.  Take one of his teammates and then you'll get an AAA pitcher for him]

5.  1986 San Francisco Giants Pitching
6.  1998 Major League Baseball Standard Batting [includes any pitcher with a plate appearance]
7.  P  Carlos Diaz 1982-86
8.  1B  Jim Tatum 1992-98

9.  P  Bill Caudill 1979-87
10.  Ohio Dominican University Panthers [only one major leaguer - Jonathan Sanchez - so you can take any season of his career, and one of his teammates from the same season]
11.  P  Mike Cvengros 1922-29
12.  1973 Detroit Tigers batting orders [no pitchers, since they had the DH]

PS  If you want, you can generate a random back-up team for me.  But we'll still look for one or two wait-list owners, too.

We will look for one or two wait list owners now.  For anyone who's been intrigued, here is a chance to get a random team that you might not have to play with!

> 1. * OF Lee Riley 1944

1944 Ron Northey, 1945 Frank Secory (to be replaced)

> 2. 1891 American Association Standard Pitching (any two pitchers from the AA that year)

1891 Jersey Bakely (Baltimore Orioles Partial Season), 1891 Ted Breitenstein (St. Louis Browns)

> 3. OF Ron Stone 1966-72

1972 Ron Stone, 1972 Steve Carlton

> 4. C Raul Chavez 1996-2009

2005 Raul Chavez, 2005 Roger Clemens

> 5. P Mark Portugal 1995-99

1992 Mark Portugal, 1992 Craig Biggio

> 6. box score 10/3/79 NLCS Game 2 Pirates at Reds (any two players who appeared in the game - I'd be surprised if you took Pirates starter Jim Bibby)

1979 George Foster (Reds), 1979 Kent Tekulve (Pirates)

> 7. Brooklyn Ward's Wonders Top 50 Batting Leaders (I think they only played the one season in 1890, so it's any two players from that season)

1890 Bill Joyce, 1890 George Van Haltren

> 8. * OF Marcus Lawton 1989

1989 Randy Velarde, 1990 Dave Winfield (to be replaced)

> 9. Buffalo Bisons Team History and Encyclopedia (this was the 1914-1915 Federal League club -- any two players, could be one from each year)

1914 Baldy Louden, 1915 Joe Agler

> 10. P Brad Thomas 2001-11

2010 Brad Thomas, 2010 Miguel Cabrera

> 11. 1965 Los Angeles Dodgers roster (pitchers, too)

1965 Jim Gilliam, 1965 Sandy Koufax

> 12. P Cuddles Marshall 1946-50

1946 Cuddles Marshall, 1946 Aaron Robinson

Wild Card: 1992 Eric Wedge

I don't have enough usable pitching...only 1250 IP I won't dread. Of course, 900 IP of that is wrapped up in '72 Carlton, '65 Koufax, and '05 Clemens. I'll be shocked if there isn't at least one justified homicide on the defense...there will be much cursing, head-shaking, and probably physical attacks as balls sail through willy-nilly. Hopefully Dodger Stadium will keep the pitch count down.

He's a C/D+ at SS.  There's no way I'm trotting out that kind of D at SS.

simisox: I'd trade. I have Cuddles Marshall and Brad Thomas eating up a combined $2.3M. I had no choice on Thomas, and the Marshall was the least-bad choice I could make.

Commish (or anyone else), can you clarify the word "corresponding"  in the following: "and then roster a $200k player who I will replace before opening day with the corresponding player from my AAA draw"

You get a SS as your player du jour, you replace him with the SS on your AAA roster.

I have a small problem in that I got two OFs. I'm going to replace them with my OF and then hope that another of my AAA guys has OF eligibility.

Correct.  You put a 200k player on your roster, but you'll replace the 200k player with one of your AAA players before the season starts.  Sitemail me with any further questions.

reddtrain:  If your other AAA guys don't have any OF eligibility, use the first baseman for your second OF.

tdoak: Yeah, I know...

But I don't need another 1B (Cabrera has 648 PA, and I have a blowout replacement). I could really use another OF, especially one that can fake it defensively.

tdoak's second team (in case it's needed):

1) 1889 NL Pitching Leaders
2) 1911 World Series Game 2 (October 16, 1911)
3) P Ox Miller 1943-47
4) P Bill Prough 1912 [not in sim]

5) OF Glen Barker 1999-2001
6) OF/1B Rick Leach 1981-90
7) Malachi Kittridge [as manager - he was a player/manager for the 1904 Washington Senators] [I think this means you get two players from the 1904 Senators]
8) 2002 San Diego Padres team page

9) P Dick Hyde 1955-61
10) 1996 MLB Attendance/Misc [does that mean any two players from 1996?]
11) 1994 NL Standard Fielding [any two players in the NL in 1994]
12) P George Shears 1912 [not in sim]
