Millsaps is all for a nice, boring win.  Especially against that damn Emory team!
9/10/2013 3:37 PM
We still have 5 undefeated teams but we're down to six winless teams after US Coast Guard cadets stormed the court last night to celebrate their first win of the season.  Go crazy.

Last Night
#6 Greensboro 83   #8 Oglethorpe 93
Oglethorpe got out to an early lead in this one and they never looked back, maintaining the lead all the way till the end.  Greensboro made a few runs and got to within a couple points a few times but they were unable to get over the hump and go in front.  Oglethorpe and getiguy shot 51% from the field, 44% from 3 and 84% from the line to put on an impressive offensive performance in the win.  Greensboro and tilldog got their second loss of the conference season but only lost a couple spots in the rankings.

Also considered: Sewanee got the home upset over #10 Emory 70-60, Trinity did the same against #14 Dallas 64-53, Newbury made free throws with no time on the clock in OT to take down #15 S. Vermont 70-68, and #11 Whitworth handled E. Oregon 88-74.

Sim blowout watch: MacMurray conquered their Gorlok fear just enough to cover against #7 Webster 64-95.  Gorloks.

ITaLRbHAGotN: Concordia had absolutely no trouble with Wisconsin Platteville and bombed them out of the gym 112-78.  Concordia and hoboman had six players in double digits and with the win they have opened up a two game lead for the division title.

GotN
#10 Emory (13-4)(phalla) at #4 Ozarks (15-2)(spike101)
Ozarks has one loss in conference and is atop the west division in the University conference with a two game lead.  They have a challenge tonight in a cross-divisional matchup with Emory who is chasing Millsaps for the east division.  The series between these two is tied 5-5 and the home team is favored by a slim 1 point.

Also considered: #3 Millsaps at Hendrix, Sewanee at #14 Dallas, St. Joseph's at #15 S. Vermont, #19 Suffolk at Rivier, and #23 Hardin-Simmons at E. Texas Baptist

Sim blowout watch: Three spreads in the 60's tonight: Methodist getting 69 at #1 Piedmont, Muhlenberg getting 65 hosting #17 Ursinus, and Case Western with 62 points at #13 New York U.

ITaLRbHAGotN
#20 Vassar (18-0)(theriddler) at Utica (12-6)(doc00017)
We have round two of the always exciting Brewers/Pioneers annual battle in the Empire 8 conference.  Vassar has a two game lead on Utica for the divisional lead and they won the first round at home by 11.  Utica needs this one if they want to keep their hopes of a divisional title alive and the upset of an undefeated opponent would give a much-needed boost to their projection profile.  The visitors are favored by 10.
9/10/2013 3:50 PM
Last Night
#10 Emory 67   #6 Ozarks 56
This game was close throughout but the visitors stayed in the lead pretty much from start to finish.  Ozarks was able to trim the lead down to one possession several times but Emory always had the answer and were able to hold on and pull away at the end with free throws.  Emory and phalla were able to keep pace for the divisional lead with the victory while Ozarks and spike saw their lead in the standings shrink to one game.

Also considered: #3 Millsaps cruised past Hendrix 71-43, #12 Dallas handled Sewanee 64-54, #14 S. Vermont got a tip-in with one second remaining to edge St. Joseph's 55-53, #13 Suffolk got past Rivier 78-71, and #22 Hardin-Simmons had no trouble with E. Texas Baptist 102-79.

Sim blowout watch: All three 60ish point dogs covered with relative ease: Methodist fell to #1 Piedmont 70-119, Muhlenberg lost to #21 Ursinus 53-74, and Case Western were defeated by #20 New York U. 57-84.

ITaLRbHAGotN: #18 Vassar stayed undefeated on the season with an emphatic road victory over Utica, 72-53.  The Brewers got their drink on early and often, taking the lead a few minutes in the game and then never looking back.  Vassar and theriddler had three players in double figures and now will be looking to finish the regular season with an unblemished record.  Utica and doc will have to wait and give revenge another shot come conference tourney time.

GotN
#4 Susquehanna (18-1)(zeuspole) at #15 Penn St. Altonna (16-2)(frankgrimes1)
A huge game in the Commonwealth Conference as both of these teams sit atop the south division with undefeated conference records.  This is the first of two games between these two with the second coming quickly the day after tomorrow.  frank has a 37-22 lead on zeus all-time but the visitors are favored by 1 point.

Also considered: #24 W. New England at #2 Johnson and Wales, #23 Palm Beach Atlantic at #5 Greensboro, Hendrix at #10 Emory, #12 Dallas at Louisiana, Newbury at #13 Suffolk, and #14 S. Vermont at Rivier

Sim blowout watch: Westminster is getting an appropriately high 85 points as they visit the scary den of the Gorloks, #7 Webster and winless La Verne is a 73 point home dog as they host #19 Colorado.

ITaLRbHAGotN
William Paterson (15-3)(SimAI) at #16 Ramapo (18-0)(pgj930)
We have a big cross-divisional battle in the New Jersey conference between two teams leading their divisions with perfect 8-0 records.  Ramapo is undefeated on the season and this looks to be the toughest game left on their schedule.  The home team is favored by 2.
9/11/2013 4:53 PM
Last Night
#4 Susquehanna 71   #20 Penn St. Altoona 69
Finally some excitement in the featured game!  Susquehanna had a solid first half and built up a lead that eventually got into the double digits, but the home team made a push before the break to cut the deficit to 8.  Susquehanna nursed that lead throughout the second half until PSA made one of two free throws to finally cut the lead to just 1 point with fifty-four seconds left in the game.  The visitors answered with two of their own from the line but Mark Stone of PSA brought the home crowd to their feet with a Stone-cold clutch 3ptr to tie the game at 69 with just thirty-one seconds on the clock.  The euphoria didn't last long as Susquehanna's Henry Nelson hit a jumper with four seconds on the clock and the home team could only muster a halfcourt prayer as time expired.  Susquehanna and zeus get a huge conference road win and take a one game lead in the division while PSA and frank slip down the rankings a few spots and will plan for revenge tomorrow night.

Also considered: #2 Johnson and Wales spider-monkeyed W. New England 77-59, #5 Greensboro got past Palm Beach Atlantic 93-85, #8 Emory jimmied past Hendrix 56-46, #14 Dallas handled Louisiana 77-68,  #13 Suffolk won a defensive struggle with Newbury 53-38, and Rivier got the only upset of the night over #21 S. Vermont 82-77.

Sim blowout watch: Westminster fell to the #10 Webster Gorloks but still covered 40-93 and La Verne is still winless but managed to cover against #19 Colorado 47-87.

ITaLRbHAGotN: #12 Ramapo slowly built a lead in the first half against William Paterson and then pulled away in the second half for a comfortable 92-70 victory.  Ramapo and pgj had four players in double figures and stayed undefeated on the season.  They're now 9-0 in conference play and have a big three game lead in their division.

GotN
#23 Dickinson (15-4)(mfnmyers) at #18 Ursinus (17-2)(barjaz)
It's the annual game of the year in the Centennial conference as both teams are ranked and 9-0 in conference play.  Both teams are easily leading their divisions so once again this one will probably determine who finishes with a perfect conference record.  barjaz is leading the series 22-10 but the visitors are favored by a single point in this one.

Also considered: Trinity at #6 Ozarks, #8 Emory at Louisiana, #9 Lynchberg at Emory and Henry, and #21 S. Vermont at W. New England

Sim blowout watch: Albright is a 53 point road dog at #20 Penn St. Altoona and Albertus Magnus is getting 43 points as they visit #13 Suffolk

ITaLRbHAGotN
Buena Vista (13-6)(westcoast22) at Simpson (13-6)(dshook30)
The two human teams in the Iowa conference are mirroring each other this season.  They're both in first place in their divisions with 8-1 conference records, they're both 13-6 overall, and they're within 8 spots of each other in RPI.  This is their annual cross-divisional matchup and it should be a good one.  Both teams could use the boost to their tourney profile but Buena Vista needs this one more for the divisional race.  Simpson currently has a three game lead but BV is tied with a simmy atop the east division.  The Storm is favored by 1 point at home over the visiting Beavers.

Last Night
Dickinson 79   #19 Ursinus 82
The first half of this one was extremely close with neither team pulling ahead by more than 4 points and they went into the break tied at 41.  The home team was able to go ahead early in the second and Ursinus nursed that small lead the rest of the way.  Dickinson managed to tie the game a couple times but they never did take the lead in the second half.  They pulled to within 3 with thirty-nine seconds left and elected not to foul Ursinus.  Ursinus missed a shot with four seconds left and Dickinson could only manage a missed halfcourt shot at the buzzer as the home fans left the arena happy.  With the win, Ursinus and barjaz stay undefeated in conference while Dickinson and wmfnmyers will look for revenge in the conference tourney.

Also considered: #5 Ozarks cruised past Trinity 97-64, #9 Emory got two free throws with five seconds left to get past Louisiana 61-60, #8 Lynchberg survived a scare from Emory and Henry 69-67, and #18 S. Vermont handled W. New England 76-63.

Sim blowout watch: Albright managed to cover against #21 Penn St. Altoona 59-85 as did Albertus Magnus at #14 Suffolk 52-76.

ITaLRbHAGotN: Buena Vista got the road win they needed to keep pace with the divisional lead as they downed Simpson 77-64.  The visitors trailed by 4 at the break but they exploded in the second half for 52 points and eventually pulled away for the 13 point victory.  Buena Vista and westcoast will now look to keep rolling until a final day battle with divisional co-leader Coe.  Or I guess they would be Coe-leaders.  So clever.  Anyway, Simpson and dshook are still in good shape for their division and will hope to get another shot at BV in the conference tourney.

GotN
CSU Eastbay (15-5)(cstruck23) at #20 Colorado (17-4)(bdpoor)
We go to the Southern California conference where there are three teams with just one loss atop the south division.  The three of them played rock/paper/scissors so far this season with Eastbay beating Colorado, Colorado beating Whittier, and Whittier beating Eastbay.  I'll leave it up to them to decide who has to be paper.  If only there were two more one-loss teams in this arrangement, it could be rock/paper/scissors/lizard/Spock.  Maybe next time.  bdpoor leads the series 4-2 and his team is favored by 2 points at home.

Also considered: #21 Penn St. Altoona at #4 Susquehanna, Palm Beach Atlantic at #7 Oglethorpe, Louisiana at #11 Dallas, #14 Suffolk at Newbury, and #24 Rivier at Emerson.

Sim blowout watch: Kean is getting a hefty 74 points as they host undefeated #13 Ramapo, Albertus Magnus makes a second straight appearance, this time as a 68 point home dog to #2 Johnson and Wales, and Averett is getting 66 points at home as they host #6 Greensboro.

ITaLRbHAGotN
John Carroll (15-5)(whit6r) at Capital (19-2)(SimAI)
John Carroll is 10-0 atop the north division of the Ohio conference and have a one game lead on Capital thanks to beating them at home earlier in the season.  A win here on the road would probably secure first place in the division along with a season sweep.  The simmies are favored by 1 point at home.

Last Night
CSU Eastbay 67   #18 Colorado 70
Lizard poisons Spock.  Nuff said.

Also considered: #21 Penn St. Altoona got revenge for the loss two days ago and tied for the divisional lead with a 76-69 road win over #9 Susquehanna, #5 Oglethorpe got past Palm Beach Atlantic 76-66, #11 Dallas cruised past Louisiana 68-50, #13 Suffolk got the road victory at Newbury 61-49, and #23 Rivier took out Emerson 76-68.

Sim blowout watch: Kean had no trouble covering against #16 Ramapo 47-75, unlike Albertus Magnus who just barely covered the 68 point spread against #2 Johnson and Wales 80-142, and finally we have yet another official blowout victim as Averett fell to #6 Greensboro 60-131.  Poor simmies.

ITaLRbHAGotN: Capital gets some revenge for simmies everywhere with a 74-67 home victory over John Carroll.  Capital got a layup with fifty seconds left and then made a string of free throws to get the 7 point win.  The two teams are now tied atop the north division with one loss each so the stretch run in the Ohio conference will be interesting.

GotN
#23 Rivier (16-6)(jack_duck) at #19 S. Vermont (17-4)(funngun10)
An interesting matchup in the Great Northeast conference as both of these teams are chasing Suffolk for the west division lead.  Rivier won the first game between these two a few days ago and now goes for the sweep on the road.  jack_duck has a huge lead in the series 22-6 and this game is an even pick according to the odds-makers.

Also considered: #3 Millsaps at Sewanee, and #6 Greensboro at Christopher Newport

Sim blowout watch: Westminster is a huge 83 point home dog hosting the #10 Webster Gorloks and Averett hopes to prevent another blowout getting 64 points as they get a visit from #5 Oglethorpe.

ITaLRbHAGotN
Wooster (13-8)(pseudochamp) at Off Day (NA)(none)
Wooster once again looks to avoid what would be a disastrous loss on the road.  The Wooster players will need to stay focused on tonight's game and not look past Off Day to a crucial visit from Ohio Wesleyan tomorrow night.  The odds-makers haven't put a line on this game, probably because there are some injured key Off Day players who are questionable to start.

 We beat em' Yesterday
9/15/2013 10:54 AM
Last Night
Rivier 55   #17 S. Vermont 65
S. Vermont was able to build a lead late in the first half but the visitors made a run to make it a 1 point game at the break.  S. Vermont tried to pull away throughout the second half but Rivier just kept hanging around and keeping the game close.  The home team finally got some breathing room in the last two minutes as they put the game away with free throws down the stretch.  With the win S. Vermont and funngun stay just one game off the divisional lead and move up a couple spots in the rankings.  Rivier and jack_duck fall just outside the top 25 with the loss.

Also considered: #3 Millsaps survived a last second attempt to down Sewanee 79-77 and #5 Greensboro handled Christopher Newport 90-75.

Sim blowout watch: Westminster covered against the Gorloks of #9 Webster 41-89 and Averett avoided a second straight humiliation by covering vs #7 Oglethorpe 44-85.

ITaLRbHAGotN: Wooster flat out owned Off Day last night.  Suck on that Off Day.

GotN
#14 Whitworth (20-2)(tim_buggie) at Willamette (13-8)(bullman17)
Another key divisional battle in the Northwest conference.  Whitworth won the earlier game between these two and if they can get the road victory tonight, they'll be set up nicely to finish undefeated in conference play.  Willamette is two games behind for the divisional lead so that ship has probably sailed, but a win here would be a nice boost to their projected tournament seeding.  bullman has a one game lead in the series 12-11 but the visitors are favored by 6.

Also considered: #17 S. Vermont at #12 Suffolk, Christopher Newport at #7 Oglethorpe, and #9 Webster at Aurora,

Sim blowout watch: Wabash is getting 51 points as they visit #16 Wittenberg while Methodist is a 46 point road dog at #5 Greensboro.

ITaLRbHAGotN
Elmhurst (18-4)(SimAI) at Northland (16-7)(raucous)
Both of these CCIW teams are leading their divisions with perfect conference records.  Both have also already clinched their division titles so this one is mainly for bragging rights and post-season positioning.  The home team is getting 1 point and a win for either team would be good projection report news.
9/15/2013 11:36 PM
Dammit.  I hate losing to a Sim.
9/17/2013 10:23 AM
Once again, pretend you're reading this yesterday.

Last Night
#18 Whitworth 74   Willamette 78  (OT)
Willamette successfully avenged the earlier loss by taking down Whitworth in overtime.  The home team missed an opportunity to win in regulation but a shot attempt with eight seconds left wouldn't fall and then they survived a missed attempt by Whitworth at the buzzer.  Willamette then built a lead in the extra sessions and made the free throws to seal the win.  Willamette and bullman are now just one game behind in the divisional standings, putting the pressure on Whitworth.  tim_buggie's team drops a couple spots in the rankings with the loss.

Also considered: #10 Suffolk got a steal with one second left in regulation to preserve the win over #22 S. Vermont 73-70, #7 Oglethorpe "sailed" past Christopher Newport 76-66, and #9 Webster Gorloked Aurora 78-50.

Sim blowout watch: Wabash bravely covered at #15 Wittenberg 51-82 and Methodist bravely took their beating like a pro, getting blown out by #5 Greensboro 66-124.

ITaLRbHAGotN: raucous hates losing to a Sim, and I don't blame him.  Losing to a Sim on your home court in overtime, that's a bit too much to take.  Elmhurst got a tying 3ptr with just three seconds on the clock in regulation and then went on a scoring binge in OT to beat Northland 90-83.  This was Northland and raucous' first conference loss of the season and they'll be looking for a shot at revenge in the conference tourney.

GotN
#12 Emory (18-5)(phalla) at #3 Millsaps (19-3)(brianxavier)
Several games between ranked opponents tonight but we'll go with this University conference showdown.  Millsaps won the first game between these two by 6 earlier in the season and they'll be going for the season sweep at home.  These teams are most likely locked into the first and second spot in the east division so this is mostly a game for pride and post-season seeding purposes.  The home team is favored by 2 points.

Also considered: #25 Palm Beach Atlantic at #1 Piedmont, #2 Johnson and Wales at #20 S. Vermont, #4 Ozarks at #10 Dallas, and #15 Colorado at Whittier

Sim blowout watch: Winless Principia is getting a massive 93 points on the road against #8 Webster and St. Lawrence is a 57 point road dog at #14 New York U.

9/17/2013 3:57 PM
We're still at five undefeated team and now down to five winless teams after Elizabethtown got a win in overtime last night.  Hooray.

Last Night
#14 Emory 59   #3 Millsaps 64
Millsaps led most of the first half with the visitors make it close near the break, making it a 2 point game.  After halftime, Millsaps extended the lead back to near double digits and pretty much rode that margin till the end.  Millsaps and brianxavier had three players in double figures and clinched a division title with the win.  Emory and phalla fall a couple spots in the rankings with the loss.

Also considered: #1 Piedmont stayed undefeated with a 83-57 win over Palm Beach Atlantic, #2 Johnson and Wales made their free throws to down #22 S. Vermont 77-73, #4 Ozarks got the road win at #12 Dallas 65-54, and #25 Whittier upset #20 Colorado 77-75.

Sim blowout watch: Principia covered the gargantu-spread easily but fell to #9 Webster 56-104 while St. Lawrence also covered at #13 New York U. 69-91.

GotN
Hendrix (16-7)(jeffsu) at #4 Ozarks (20-3)(spike101)
Staying in the University conference, Ozarks will clinch a share of a divisional title with a win tonight in this inter-divisional meeting.  Hendrix is playing for post-season positioning and a road win here would be a significant boost.  spike leads the series 4-1 and his team is favored by 7 points at home.

Also considered: Rivier at #2 Johnson and Wales, #3 Millsaps at Trinity, and Emmanuel at #22 S. Vermont

Sim blowout watch: McMurry is a 59 point home dog against #21 Hardin-Simmons and Pacific Lutheran is getting 56 points on the road at #17 Whitworth.

ITaLRbHAGotN
John Carroll (17-6)(whit6r) at Ohio Northern (18-7)(ekulka)
We have a nice cross-divisional in the Ohio conference with both teams needing the win.  These two are solidly on the post-season bubble and a victory tonight might be worth a significant boost in the projections.  whit6r has a huge 24-4 lead in the series but the odds-makers have this game listed as an even pick.

Just noticed pseudos alternate gotn vs "off day". That's so stupid it's funny.
9/17/2013 8:33 PM
Great pseudo... as if my team wasn't feeling enough pressure with #4 Ozarks?? Man. I am not being humble when I say I expect this to be a 20+ pt blowout. The defensive rating of those starters is tough.

Hendrix is just psyched to have a few wins in the UAA and hopefully on track for an NT. Been a long rebuild!

I'm pretty sure you could classify a significant percentage of my humor as "so stupid it's funny."  I have no problem with that.
9/18/2013 2:33 PM
jeffsu, your team shouldn't be feeling extra pressure.  You're playing a ranked team on the road, all the pressure should be on them to take care of business.  Unless your post was a blatant attempt at reverse-jinxing the game.  If that's the case, I fully endorse it.
