As a "newbie", the more I've studied this theme, i think there's a little too much "research" involved. What do you think?? Can a "newbie" handle this?? If u think I can, then leave me in.
Tough to answer. You have to look at all assigned teams, recognizing you must have at least one player from every team and stay within the $120 mil salary cap.. Usually I wind up with very low salaried players from 4-5 teams. I try to get at least 4 top notch starting and 2 top relief pitchers, and top players at as many starting positions as possible.
It's a juggling act to find the right players to stay within the salary cap. Most owners wind up close to the salary cap. In the research, I usually load each of the 16 teams to see what WIS has as the players on the team. However, WIS loads only position players with 20 or more games played. I also search for utility players with low salaries by changing the minimum games from 20 to 0.
Hope this gives you enough info to decide whether you can cope with the research necessary. There are 6 owners who have been in the league for every season and 7 more who've been in for at least 13 seasons, so obviously many enjoy the league quite a bit. I usually spend 2-4 hours doing the research for my team but I have no idea whether that's typical or not (bearing in mind I'm pretty experienced).
