Round 2 - $100M Theme ideas Topic

I like the ballpark blacklist idea - or perhaps only neutral fields allowed.

Maybe neutral fields only then.  I think it fits along the idea of trying new strategies to win.
9/11/2013 3:44 PM
Why not blacklist the ballparks used more than once? There would still be a good number of ballparks left.
9/12/2013 11:49 AM
Why not just make everyone use WhatIfSports Park (says the guy who's ranked right behind TODD in 99th place)?
9/12/2013 3:07 PM
I think blacklisting some $200-300K players is useful too. 1977 Foli is one of the most commonly used players at OL, and I'd certainly use him here. There are a few others that fit that description.

Having said that, I like blacklist leagues. Good way to encourage new ideas.

Actually, one other thought about the under $300K. If you required that all such players be from the 1930s or 1960s, it would make a nice pairing with the $60M league, and avoid a lot of the obvious cheap cookies.

It's probably a bit late to add more ideas, especially since I like the blacklist, but here's a one rule league that would lead to some different strategies.
  • Team's pitching OAV must be higher than Team's hitting AVG
Using a 100M budget effectively while complying with that could be interesting.
9/24/2013 11:03 AM
wouldn't that just lead to tacking on a bunch of really cheap and prodigiously terrible guys at the end to inflate/deflate the respective statistics?
9/24/2013 6:31 PM
It turns out to be harder to do that than I expected. You spend so much money, and use up so many roster spots, that you would be better off adjusting strategy to start with.
