Promises in Postseason Topic

Do promised starts and playing time need to be honored in the postseason?

Yes they do.

I'm just going to add to this, instead of making another thread.

I promised a DB a starting spot. I had him sa my 2nd Saftey, which I thought would still be considered a starter. He cryed, lost 23 points in WE. I have him starting now, how long until his WE goes back up?

You must have made a mistake somewhere, because #2 spot on the Safety roster should be a starter.  After he loses that WE, it can be anywhere from 1-5 games before it goes back up (will not go all the way back up).

Did you promise him playing time as well?  Also, the "start" must be for the 1st half of a game....2nd half does not count as a "start"...but certainly does for playing time.

I only promised him a start. You may be right, I might have had him at the 3rd slot, and made the change to the 2 slot at halftime.

Thanks for the info!

One other thought - if your base defense is a 4-4, then of course you will only have one starting safety.

I've had alot of promised start and promised playing time players whom I've sat down in the CC and playoffs with no problem. I was told long ago it was just for the regular season. I'm not sure about any other division but in div. 3  but I have never had a player get mad.
Yeah, I know in HD it's only the regular season too. Was kinda wondering about the earlier response that said you still had to honor in the postseason.

This is true....I did not think of that, since I have never used it as my "base".  Excellent point.

I have benched promised players in the post-season with no harm done.

+1   Fermor has played for awhile so he may be speaking from experience. However, I have benched players with promised starts and playing time for my bowl games and have never had one complain. IMO, If your other players are alot better, it may be worth the risk.

This is a timely revelation.  Now, my friend gantincbus may be just trying to throw me off the trail, LOL.  I have two FR DBs that have PT and Starts promised and I've been keeping them all season, but this may change my approach as the CC game and playoffs are upon us in Wilkinson D3.

Yes they do.
I disagree. Promised starts are for the regular season only.

If a promised so starts say the first 6 games, can I get away with the rest of the season without complaint? Ormaybe 8 games? Or another number?

Each player will complain at a different point.  It might be after only 1 missed start...or it might take a couple of missed starts.  At some point, he will complain, and lose WE.  You can only get part of it back by honoring the promise.  So.....the later in the season you cause his complaint, the less number of games you have left to "fix it".
