I wasn't involved last time around, so I don't have any background...

That being said, I don't see the harm in allowing trades now. Even if it's a $10M player for a $1M player, the team getting the $1M player has $9M to get his perfect player in Round 25 or something...

IMO, it becomes an issue after the teams are submitted. That could impact competitive balance more than this will.

The in-season requirement matters in general because it allows for the usual veto process; in drafts, it becomes a pain if one owner opposes the deal — that forces the draft to halt while the owners have a chance to veto. In UNO, creating payroll flexibility late in the draft goes against the whole idea of the draft.

It should be sufficient to just post that you plan to make a trade of Player A for Player B and ask anyone who objects or might veto it to post so you know it's risky. If you post it and no one complains, it's a pretty safe bet that it will go through after the season starts.

yep- part of the strategy & tough decisions balancing a budget & trying to find the right guys hoping a team will be picked that will help you fill 2 gaping holes for the right price when you're down to the wire and still need a starting Centerfielder & Catcher like someone I know with 6 Rounds left...not that I'm talking about myself or anyone...just a hypotherical here, lol...

I am always in favor of what the rules say and in this case trading in the draft...that being said I am always up for changes but it must be discussed/approved as the rules state once the season starts.
