I feel the need to explain myself with my first round pick and how that related to the rest of my draft...not that anyone cares, but I just felt the need.
Durant vs. Shaq
So...I often draft a big guy in the first round (with the exception of drafting Wade in either this or ODL recently). I feel like I have been neglecting the backcourt in favor of a strong frontcourt and I don't think that has been exceptionally wise. Plus I wanted someone else and Durant is a lot of fun. This time I wanted to shore up the rebounding I would lose with Durant with Williams and then snag a solid PG before the crazy run on PGs started. Little did I know that The Glove would be sitting there in the third. Once that happened it was about making a strong 7 man rotation that would allow me to have a couple of extra minutes to cover for fouls issues with Buck. Plus I wanted to see what 10K+ points in this league would look like even though the D issues with Murphy. Once I made the choice to draft Durant I kinda knew (unless something weird happened and an obvious guy wasn't taken) that I was taking Bells in the fourth. He would keep people from hammering me on D from distance and he can rebound and play mediocre D while eating a lot of minutes. Murph was a tough pick, but ultimately he spreads the floor and gives threes and lots of Dreb. Dreb to me is one of the most key stats without considering proper usage distribution. Joe D gives me some assists, D, and a nice spot up shooter that can play some 1 and 2. Edge will cover 2 and 3 minutes which will allow for an undrafted player to give some help at the 1 and Durant with another undratted player to help at the 3 which lets Williams play his natural 4 some. This will make sure that I do not lose the 5% on playing Buck at the 3 all game long.
