Here is the run that oldman is on at Michigan St. He's setup to contend for a title again next season also. Really incredible to do it against that level of competition.

Just to update this, oldman just finished up another 35-0 season.  His last 6 seasons now look like this:

thats just stupid.
  crazy.
how is that even remotely possible with EE's?

but just remember,
when listed alphabetically,  "oldave" is ahead of both "oldman"  and "oldresorter"

last year the #1 and #2 picks were both EE's (both Sfs)  from MSU.  (plus they had the #13 overall pick)
and this year he loses two soph EEs.
but he did only have one senior so maybe he just reloads again?

plus they run FCP,  so he has to be going 10+ deep all the time regardless of how many frosh he has.  crazy

Usually when this happens no one is fighting you for recruits. Its still the sickest thing I've seen in awhile though...5 of 6 in todays DI is remarkable.

wow... that is truly amazing. congrats oldman, probably the best run in HD history right there...

That is just insane. 199 wins in 6 season, the most you can actually have (barring a scheduling quirk where you get an 11th NC game) is 210. Six straight Final 4s, 5 titles, and 2 perfect seasons. We know at minimum Oldman is riding a 44 game win streak, would be interesting to know what the actual streak is, and what is the all-time longest streak in D1?

Agree that's probably the most impressive thing I've seen in this game.

jsajsa has been incredible--I'm not sure how he does it. It's like the rest of us in Crum are playing for second.
Says the guy who made me finish second 2 seasons ago...

And thanks for the recognition, Dan! I'm very proud of the elite eight streak, and the 9 out of 10 top 2 RPI seasons. Frankly, championships are more about just plain luck.
i feel like RPI is so easy to manipulate that i never could put much stock in the consistency. besides, it penalizes teams who play for the championship from the beginning of the season, which i highly recommend for championship level teams. let someone else get the #1 rpi and go for the title, thats how ive always looked at it. not that it makes your incredible run any less incredible! i just never really cared for RPI streaks, its cool, but i dont think it means much. now that NT consistency, thats a different story :) i think that is really something. theres a ton of luck in a single NT run, but over 10 seasons, its enough games to pretty well flush things out.
Curious what you mean here, Jeff:

"it penalizes teams who play for the championship from the beginning of the season".

That's the situation -- he gets all of Michigan and Ohio, often without any real battles.

Still, an absolutely unbelievable run ... just pure randomness and law of averages mean this should not be happening.

No offense to anyone, because all of these accomplishments are flipping awesome, but I put more stock into a run like this at DI than in the lower divisions. It's just better competition, better teams, EEs to kill you, etc, etc.

No offense, but I think it's kinda foolish to make sweeping statements like that about the levels.  You should evaluate situations individually, to the extent that you care about ranking such things.

Hofhof's run at Syracuse is pretty unbelievable.  In the past 26 seasons, he's been to the National Championship game 13 times, winning 8 of them.  At high D1, that's impressive.
