Actually, it would, dumbass.  Using your own "WAR, ************!!!" logic.
Let me see if I understand your point.

Are you saying that Cabrera's WAR would be altered because his replacement would be Longoria?
11/18/2013 12:39 PM
No.  I'm saying his value to Detroit would be altered if Longoria was on the roster.
11/18/2013 12:41 PM
WAR doesn't look at ACTUAL replacements, it looks at the player in comparison to someone who is essentially of AAAA-quality.  A boarderline MLB player.  So screaming "WAR ************" doesnt really work if you're arguing with BL while making this point.

That's not WAR, dumbshit.

It is when you're comparing two players, dumbass.

If I have Cabrera in the lineup and Longoria waiting in the wings, the value-added that Cabrera brings is the delta between his WAR and Longoria's WAR.

If Cabrera goes down with injury, the hit to my lineup is a lot less if I have Longoria filling in than if I have a AAA call-up filling in.

I'd really like to see you try to figure it out for yourself.

It's all about "WAR, ************!!!"

You may proceed.
Retard.

You've argued against WAR this entire time without actually understanding WAR.

Good job, that's some miket23 level stupidity.

I think I understand WAR a lot better than you understand the word "valuable" in MVP.

What the **** does that have to do with anything?

Cabrera's value is still X, even if Longoria is available to replace him.

Cabrera is not nearly as valuable to the Tigers if they have somebody as high quality as Longoria ready to step in.
11/18/2013 12:57 PM
BL, it goes back to the argument of the definition of "value" that you may or may not understand.

Value to the team.
Value to the team.
Value to the team.
Value to the team.
Value to the team.

Another example of trying to replace real life with a computer formula.

Yes, yes he is. Let's say that, without Longoria, the Tigers would require 3 high level prospects back in a trade for Cabrera.

Are you suggesting that, with Longoria, they'd accept less in trade?

11/18/2013 12:59 PM
And they get Todd Van Poppel, Brien Taylor, and Ryan Anderson

Why is he being traded now?  "If the Tigers didn't have X player" doesn't mean he's being traded.  It means if they didn't have the player.

And what do prospects do for the team this year?  It's an annual award.
