I figured Clemens was roiding with Canseco in the Great White North.
Looked up Clemens numbers...he had 3 Cy Youngs in Boston. He may have been a HOFer anyway, actually.

If your nick name is "The Big Hurt" you belong in the Hall of Fame

Clemens was also the 1986 AL MVP h probably should've won the 1988 & 1992 Cy Young's.

I would vote for:

Frank Thomas
Roger Clemens
Barry Bonds
Craig Biggio
Greg Maddux
Tim Raines
Mark McGwire

Sosa, Edgar Martinez, and Bagwell are all very close, but I don't think I vote for any of them.  If somebody gave me a vote.

So you're saying Glavine isn't even close? He'll get in first ballot with Maddux.

Glavine, Maddux and Biggio will be in this year - Thomas should be, but who knows, with these voters.

Sosa's a joke.  I can see the arguments for Bonds, Clemens, etc. who were on their way to establishing HOF careers before they PED'd.  But Sosa was nowhere near tracking towards the HOF pre-1998.

White Sammy Sosa sez "Lofton was the steroid era Brett Butler.  No HOF for either,"

Glavine shouldn't make it.  He paid off umpires to allow his pitches a foot off the plate be called a strike.

I have no evidence, but apparently accusations without merit are acceptable practices.

I think that argument can work against them too. I almost have more "respect" for guys who used to get themselves over the edge, as opposed to guys like Clemens and Bonds, who were pretty much surefire HOFers before they started using, and simply began cheating because it wasn't enough - they were greedy and felt like they were owed something more by the game - the title of "best".

My picks

Greg Maddux
Edgar Martinez
Barry Bonds
Roger Clemens
Joe Jackson
Pete Rose
Johnny Bench (first player to be elected twice, he was that good)
This makes FAR more sense than anything else uttered in this thread.

Jaffe invented the JAWS score. He is considered an expert on the Hall of Fame.

I really don't see what's so outrageous about calling Lofton a borderline candidate. Compare him to the other center fielders in the Hall. He certainly has a better case than Jack Morris and it's very likely that Morris gets elected this year.
I am a Tiger LIFER. And if Morris gets in the HOF, it's an absolute JOKE. Even more so than Blyleven. Lofton and Morris should get the 2 for 1 discount when they buy TICKETS to go LOOK at the HOF. I mean, COME THE **** ON ALREADY. Jack Morris, Hall of Fame.......that's just insanity. Morris was good in his day, but he's nowhere NEAR a HOF pitcher. NOWHERE near...

He very likely will get in, but that doesn't mean he deserves it.

Sure.  I guess we can all pretend that nothing happened.

Just like in the McGwire / Sosa race towards Maris's HR record in '98.
