Calling for owners who want to get in on the ground floor of a brand new progressive league!
As we try and stay warm by the hot stove in anticipation of the 2014 baseball season, lets go back in time 50 years and start a brand new imagined baseball history that starts in 1964.
A pretty straightforward progressive format:
16 teams, 4 divisions (possible expansion in 1969 or later)
No salary cap
No WW, No DH, injuries turned off
6/2 below average AAA
Initial draft: random order, serpentine, 26 rounds (select 25 players and your ballpark)
Future drafts: Draft order set by w-l record at the 120 game mark, For round one, top 4 spots are determined by a lottery including the four worst teams, with a 30 win floor. Rounds 2 on are straight 1-16 based on w-l record.
Keepers: No limit on how many players an owner can keep or cut. You can put players who are missing the upcoming WiS season on your IR list and bring them back when they return.
Ballparks/alignment: Owners will pick their ballpark at any time during the initial draft. every 1964 major league ballpark will be available, 8 AL parks and 8 NL parks will be selected, team names must start with location of the team, AL/NL alignment, divisions will be based on geography. When your selected ballpark falls out of actual use, you can move on to the new park (and/or city) that the real-life team in your park moved to, or you can choose to keep your original park. If you keep your original ballpark, you must remain there for the lifespan of the real-life park that followed it. For example, if you take Connie Mack Stadium and decide not to move to Veteran's Stadium in 1971, you would not be able to ever move to the Vet. Your next opportunity to change ballparks would not occur until Citizen's Bank Park comes along in 2004.
Trading picks: You can trade draft picks for the current draft or the following season's draft only.
