Story about Frank Kostro. When I was eleven and living in Detroit, at my uncles home he showed us some Kostro bats and said he made the Detroit Tigers. My uncle said he was related to Frank. I thought I was also. I learned he was my mom's brother's (uncle) wife's sister's son. So we never were related, but I remembered those bats for decades and Frank never made it far in the majors. About 45 years later, I was talking with Al Kaline and mentioned Kostro and said we were related. Kaline jumped out of his chair and shook my hand with a big smile and said Kostro was a great guy. I said 'ya'.
