It's generally regarded as a three-game playoff series to determine the NL pennant in 1951. Though technically it was a regular-season play-in series, as the stats counted as regular season stats. 1951 was also the only time in MLB history when three teams from one city all finished in first place.

There were other games in which the home team rallied to tie the game from a 3 run deficit in the bottom of the ninth and then win in extra innings. But this was the only 9th inning walk-off win when down by 3 or more.
