We had quite the close game last night with both teams battling back and forth the whole way.  The visitors were able to score a couple basket at the end of the first half to take a 31-26 lead into the locker room.  Susquehanna was able to quickly come back after the break and the lead was swapped a few more times.  The home team was able to take control for good at about the six minute mark.  Ursinus was leading 51-50 at the time but Susquehanna turned on the defense and held them scoreless for the next four and half minutes, holding on for the 8 point win.

Also considered: #3 Johnson and Wales beat the final buzzer with a clutch jumper for a 80-78 win over Penn St. Altoona, #15 Millsaps sunk their free throws at the end to hold on for a 49-47 road win at Colorado, #8 Rivier took care of E. Connecticut State 72-61, and #10 Ozarks recovered from a Buena Vista 3ptr as time expired to get the win in overtime 90-78.

Sim blowout watch: All three sims managed covers last night: St. John Fisher against #4 Texas Lutheran 56-115, Mound Ida vs #13 Emory 61-98, and Pacific at home to #16 California Tech 42-71.

Wow, you know it's a hell of a non-conference slate of games when a rematch of last season's national title game doesn't even make the top of the list but it's hard to turn down the top two teams meeting.  It's a battle of abbreviated schools with 2 C's visiting 2 M's.  lynchmom leads the series between these two 5-1 and his team is favored by a point at home.

Also, I'm 99.9% certain that when I woke up this morning, UMMA was #1 and NCWC was #25.  I was THIS close to posting about how weird it was to see NCWC drop so far despite a road win against a good opponent.  The only thing that stopped me from posting was my 15 month old started eating the dog's food.  I see the 2 teams are #2 and #1 now, respectively...anyone else see the rankings around 7am (CST) or do I just need more sleep?!?

Maybe you need to lay off the dog food for a while yourself.

And my apologies to lynchmob/mom/dad/whatever, but that's a damn funny typo.

I prefer you NOT include my D2 team (although that team did have 2 freaking incredible years, surrounded by years of mediocrity)…..

I'd like to see how big of a tumble my rating would take if NT win percentage was used instead of overall number of wins...all I have to say is that it would probably need a parachute to survive that fall, haha.

If it makes you feel better westcoast, I'm still waiting on my first career Final Four appearance. And my only Elite Eight was accomplished not too many seasons ago in Naismith as a 16 seed.

I think it's pretty messed up that US Merchant Marines was #2 last night, beat the #1 team and then gets rewarded by falling to #4 in the rankings.

Not that I wasn't already convinced the rankings are messed up, but yeah, lynchmob's team wins by a bucket against No. 1 and gets rewarded with a slide to No. 4. Meanwhile No. 1 NCW jumps off a cliff and lands at No. 15...pretty penal for a two-point loss to No. 2. Nobody won in that game.

I agree Rednu that the rankings are messed up.
