Warren Spahn appeared as a pinch runner (god knows why), I can't use him as a pitcher, right?

Hooo boy, my date has some putrid pitching, especially relief.

I don't mean to complain, I do have seven boxscores on this date, but two are double headers, so I have 10 teams to choose lineups from.  Is the spirit of the rules that there should be at least six boxscores, meaning twelve teams to choose lineups from?

in an ideal world that would be true.  I understand what your asking.  The number of players to choose a team does diminish with doubler headers.  Back in the day there were many more doubler headers as $$$ was not as big of a concern and there were more open dates for travel via trains, etc.
I think 7 box scores, one more than minimum, is offset somewhat by the fact you can twist any player to any year that they played.  Randomness is what it is.  So no, it was never set up for the ideal of twelve teams playing, and twelve different teams to choose from.  Kinda the luck of the draw really.  Does that help?

Yes thanks, I'll play the hand  I drew.  Looking forward to the challenge :)
