I wasn't watching very closely after the 1st quarter (bored), but it seemed pretty clear that Manning was gonna get somebody killed over the middle with his 20-mph softballs into the zone.  I can only remember one completion over 20 yards (and that one was fumbled).  Given their game plan (throw short and get receivers pounded into hamburger) and their fumbilitis, they're lucky they only lost by 35.

And since Peyton is the one calling all these crappy plays (which they love to emphasize), yeah, he deserves a lot of the blame.

Not sure what you're going for here. If your question was "Did Peyton Manning play like garbage", you'd have a universal yes.

If your question is "Did Peyton Manning cost them the game", it's obviously a lot trickier because football involves so many players needing to do their job for team success. Collectively, the Broncos played terrible and Seahawks played great. Peyton Manning is the face of the failure (QB's get great credit/blame based on team performance), but it's not like he was solely holding them back from winning. They were outplayed everywhere.

If Peyton's performance was like Neil O'Donnell or Rex Grossman's Super Bowl performances where the team was holding on while the QB ruined their chances of winning, but Peyton wasn't receiving blame, you'd have a point. But like I said they were outplayed everywhere.

Yah, but Peyton was getting the vast majority of the credit for getting them there.

Kaepernick played better against Seattle than Peyton did, especially considering how ineffective Gore was

You can't (or shouldn't) throw deep anyway when every single DB is faster than every single one of your WRs.

Denver's best chance was to establish a run game, and try to get the linebackers to respect play action to open up the short/medium zones.  We were all laughing when Peyton was faking handoffs when they were down by 20 points.  
Pretty sure R. Thomas is pretty darn fast.  I'd say he's probably faster than all of Seattle's DB's.

Unfortunately Manning can't throw it 40 yards. Just curious, how much separation is there at 40 yards with a .05 second advantage? And that also assumes the receiver has been properly led.

Denver just kept running those short crossing routes that worked so well against the Pats, and their WR got drilled regularly vs. Seattle.

Twice he audibled out of a (assumed) pass play on third long, into a HANDOFF TO A BACKUP TIGHT END.

The conversation on the radio this morning was, out of the top 10 QBs in history, how many audible out of a pass on third and long, to a run to a backup tight end, even once?  Let alone twice.
