Season 5 was as awesome as they come in TBH. The all Canadian division in the AL North was dominant while the NL South was as tough as ever. The playoffs were once again filled with crushing defeat and ultimately another new champion was crowned.
The AL North continued to dominate in the playoffs with the Vancouver Clickers (formerly Tacoma) and Montreal Chubbies (formerly Portland Sea Dogs) taking the 5th and 6th seeds while the Ottawa Pilots (formerly Seattle) led the division with 98 wins taking seed #3. The Atlanta Georgians led the AL in wins breaking the 100 win barrier for the first time in franchise history with 101 thus taking the 1st seed. Sacramento took seed #2 leading the AL West with 99 wins while Toledo slid into the postseason with a .500 record in the AL East, 3 wins more than the World Series champions of season 4, the Boston Dead Kennedys. A new champion was guaranteed for season 5...
In the NL there were some usual suspects. The NL North took 3 seeds. Mexico was #1 in the NL with a 4th straight 100 win season, 107. Under the franchise's 3rd owner, mrploppie, Little Rock pulled off their second 100 with 101 taking the 5th seed and New Orleans took the 6th with 89. The rest of the divisions were represented by the same franchises as season 4. Cheyenne in the NL West took 2nd seed with 97 wins, Detroit had 90 wins in the NL North for seed #3 and slipping under .500 to only 79 wins Cincinnati pulled off back to back .500 or less playoff births.
Ottawa moved through Montreal in 4 and won a close series over Sacramento in 5. Vancouver needed all 10 games in the first two rounds to take out Toledo and then upset Atlanta. In the AL LCS Vancouver moved past their division leading rivals 4-2 advancing to the World series with some solid momentum.
In the NL Detroit bumped New Orleans out in 4 only to get swept in 3 by Cheyenne. Little Rock rolled through Cincinnati and upset Mexico City making for an undefeated NL LCS final. Cheyenne dropped Little Rock 4-2 advancing to the World Series with Vancouver.
The owners in the WS were both looking for their first pennants. Vancouver owner, jeffr24, was looking for his first in 5 seasons. Cheyenne owner 19craig58 was looking for his first in over 50 seasons of HBD! In a third series sweep in the season 5 playoffs and ending with a 14-2 record Cheyenne became the new champion of TBH.
Congratulatins Craig! That's dedication paying off.
