SEASON 7 CHANGES

The TBH ML has had a rare playoffs thus far in that there hasn't been any real upsets. During the regular season there were 3 teams that finished with more than 100 wins. Atlanta in the AL led the way with 103 this season while Mexico City hit 100 for the 6th straight season and led the NL with an even 100. Vancouver had 101 wins for the second highest in the majors but fell to Atlanta in the AL LCS series. Kansas City had the 4th highest record with 97 but met Mexico City in the NL LCS. The finals are about to begin. Based on the trend this season the World Series seems to favour Atlanta. Will Mexico City buck the trend and take back to back championships at the expense of Atlanta or will Atlanta stand true and take revenge for their loss to Mexico City in season 6? Wait and see...

In the minor leagues congratulations goes to the AL franchises for taking 3 of 5 series in season 7. The AL has taken 12 of the last 15 championships in the minors. Congratulations to our NL champs for making it close this season.

Exciting season with a great group of new owners. 'The Toughest World in HBD' just keeps getting tougher!

It has been another exciting and unpredictable season in TBH, 'The Toughest World in HBD'. Not only will there be a new champion there will be a first time champion...again. It takes hard work and dedication to become a TBH Champion. Just ask this season's WS finalists, jeffr24 owner of the Vancouver Clickers and psap with the Kansas City Tornado's...

Jeff and psap took over existing teams in the early seasons of TBH and have turned them into elite franchises. I could not think of a better match up to exemplify what TBH is about. Dedication, perseverance, sportsmanship and ultimately... championship. What an exciting World Series it will be.

Look at how they arrived this season.

Vancouver passed the AL WS rep the last two seasons in Atlanta under the ownership of dawgfan1974, one of the original Evangeline League owners from prior to the TBH merger. No championships in either world yet but a great competitor. Next he faced the #1 pitching team in season 8, the Jackson Nine under returning Evangeline and TBH vet mushashi. In the AL LCS he faced the Las Vegas One Arm Bandits under the TBH commissioner and long term Evangeline owner campbell1972. A first time LCS competitor however there is a history of 41 minor league championships in LV between Evangeline and TBH. LV passed two original Evangeliners, sbarrouque with the Ottawa Pilots and season 4 ML pennant winner jedielvis and the Boston Dead Kennedys. That's as tough as it gets.

...or is it?

The Kansas City Tornado's fell short of the league minimum in season 3 with only 51 wins. The Veteran's Group in TBH agreed that psap showed a strong effort and dedication to his franchise, a rebuild from a precarious former ownership, and was given the opportunity to come back for the following season. Just reaching 54 wins in season 3 KC has done nothing but improve season after season to reach the WS in season 8.

Kansas City won a hard fought series in the NL LCS against another great builder in TBH, royfranklin with the Fargo Fireflys who had the only 100 win season in the ML in season 8. Fargo beat first season owners Thunderb53 with the Honolulu Hurricanes who took over 2 time runner up and season 5 champion Cheyenne, and rwright and his Seattle Baristas. The Baristas set a new franchise ML record for wins and I am not sure but I think that was the first playoff birth in the entire history of this Evangeline original franchise. Two tough new owners. In his first series psap had to take on two time defender hornetmx and the Mexico City Pheenoms, an original More Cowbell franchise, who have shown season after season they live up to their name. Honourable mention goes to gotigers17 losing to MC, another up and comer.

Who had the harder battle? I'll leave you to decide. That they have battled from scratch to reach the ML World Series after only a few seasons in TBH is a spectacular feat. There will be no losers this season and a new TBH original will be crowned... but who will it be...?

There is a tendency in HBD that as a world matures you start to see recurring trends. Some franchises season after season are winners while others struggle, fail and see ownership changes season after season. I think we are seeing things settling down in TBH. As we 'mature' there are owners who are showing strong numbers every season but the trends stop there. The Big Hurt is living up to it's billing as 'The Toughest World in HBD'. The turnover is slowing down, rarely is there a team that struggles and none are failing. That was our goal from season one and it shows in the level of competition we face every season. Season 9 was no different.

Three new owners were added for season 9 and only 3 again for season 10. Only one team in the playoff races including the wild card races was under .500 and that was only by one game. Of the 12 teams making the playoffs the wins range was 92-99 wins with one team having to bow out in a three way draw for the final AL seed with 92 wins. The competition just does not get any better than that. We see some of the familiar playoff logos out there but TBH is an evolving world. There is no guarantee you will be the best every season and there are always tough owners working their way up.

In the AL Vancouver set a new wins record in the AL with 109 but did not win a series. Boston and Atlanta have experienced a ML WS and took down AL West franchises Arizona and Las Vegas respectively looking to break out in the playoffs. They were all separated by 3 wins during the regular season. Anyone's game. In the end it was the second seed Toledo Muddy Dogs who exploded onto the scene and took the ALCS to move on to the world series.

In the NL there was also a draw for the final seed with up and coming LCDudes in Hartford getting the nod ahead of the veteran captain10a in Fresno. Fargo and Kansas City have established themselves as first caliber teams earning first and second seeds respectively. Headed to the world series ended up being Mexico City. A regular in the elite MC failed to reach the 100 wins mark for a second season in a row with only 92 (only?). Evolution.

That is the dynamic of TBH. There have been successes in many of the franchises in this world. That we do not see several of the teams we are used to seeing in the playoffs, former champions and all, is a testament to the challenge this world presents. They are still here... and they will be back.

So who won the 9th TBH world series, the strongest ML team in the history of this world or the new up and comer exploding onto the scene...?
