Fun fact.... Kennedy was nominated (i.e. picked) in 1987.... After Bork and Ginsberg were rejected or withdrew.

Obama can nominate anyone he wants.... The Senate can reject them until the cows come home, or more precisely 2017.
Unless they are in recess. Hmmm wonder where the Senate is this week?

He's compromised when he's needed to. A lot of what has gone on is the GOP's dysfunction. They are ****** as a party.
He's compromised when he's been forced to.   Washington is dysfunctional.   Blaming it on one party is silliness.

One could argue zero leadership in the last 8 years.  Period. 

And, judging from the Prez candidates we have, I think we can tack another 4 years onto that.
