Exactly. People are not allowed to vote for any number of reasons. I'm pretty sure the mentally handicapped can't vote.

BL, can you vote?

Of course there are legal restrictions on voting. Age, criminal history, etc.

But voting tests, specifically, have been ruled unconstitutional.

Again, not surprising that a guy in South Carolina wants to put Jim Crow laws back on the books.

Notice how he ducked the question?

Question to BL: do you think it's unreasonable for voters to be required to provide ID to prove they are who they say they are when they show up to vote?

Yes. It's an attempt to fix a problem that doesn't exist at a cost of many poor people not being able to vote.

Why does it matter if the "problem doesn't exist"?

One typically has to show ID to purchase alcohol, tobacco, board a plane, etc. Why is it unreasonable to show ID to vote?

Those things aren't constitutionally guaranteed.

It matters if the problem doesn't exist because there is a downside the policy.

Imagine you live in a cul de sac. It's a cul de sac, so speeding cars aren't a problem. If your neighbor suggested you fill the cul de sac with speed bumps, you'd say no right? The cost of having to drive over speed bumps every day would not be worth it because the speeding problem doesn't exist.

You wouldn't say, "sure, speeding isn't a problem here, but let's do it just to be safe."

What do you think has more impact on your town/state/country: elections, or speed bumps on a remote cul de sac?

Which one should be safeguarded?

Elections. Which is why we shouldn't put up barriers to voting for unnecessary reasons.

Would you allow someone to buy a gun without ID?

Right to bear arms, ************.

Just about every state has a program that provides a FREE ID to people who can't afford them.

I don't see how cost is prohibitive. So what's this barrier you speak of?

I don't. There's no evidence that it exists.

Some states have voter ID laws. I'm not saying they can't be allowed, I'm saying I disagree with them.

Donald Trump is cutting into Hillary Clinton's lead in Wisconsin, according to a new poll released Wednesday.

Clinton, the Democratic presidential nominee, has 45 percent support to Trump's 42 percent, the Marquette Law School Poll found - within the survey's margin of error. Ten percent are supporting neither candidate.

The result is a sharp decline for Clinton, who once led the Badger State by double digits in the same poll. A Marquette survey from early August had Clinton ahead by 15 points among likely voters.
