ODL XLVII Evaluations and Commentary - DO IT Topic

robocoach: D. Robinson, K. Love, B. Jones, F. Lever, J. Calderon, S. Novak, A. Robertson

Love and Calderon are two of my favorite current RL players. While their defense is spotty, they make up for it in other ways. The team also will help cover the defensive weaknesses. This team should dominate the boards. While the addition of Novak gives the team some needed 3's, I think some cover for the 2700 missing minutes in the post was a lot more needed.
Playoffs?: MAYBE

Great minds think alike- that is why I punched up my bench with Greg Oden, Steve Johnson and Travis Diener. Gives me 1600 first rate front court bench minutes.

Overall though, my team is low on usage, that may hurt.

"tarheel:  K. Durant, H. Grant, G. Wallace, J. Noah, D. Armstrong, W. Perdue, J. Rose

I agree with everything tarheel wrote on the next page. Durant will probably put up good-looking numbers and the starting lineup's defense is solid, but a lack of adequate boards and some problems with to's will likely doom this squad. Unfortunately, Jalen won't be giving the people what they want.
Playoffs?: NO"

Hey! You can't say those things about my team! Only I can say those things about my team!
4/21/2014 12:57 PM
Cookie anyone??? I see the team this way..#1 offense, top 5 defense, top 5 on the glass, top 5 dimes, top 5 steals, with low average tov/pf rate. My first 5 run ~112% usage. 50%fg & 77%ft. What's a block? At 19.4 min's I wish I had more. I'm think'n...120ppg, 52 boards, 30 dimes, 11 stls, 5 blks, 18 tov & 19pf.

Playoffs? - good luck keep'n us out !!!

#1 offense

You're trolling, right?  Your highest efg% guy isn't even 54% & you've got a guy with less than 50% taking a quarter of your shots... for almost the entire game.

I'd like to try Bird at SF and Doc at SG some day - I think that would be a complimentary pairing with Bird taking treys and Doc making up for Bird's weak orb%

meanwhile:

top 5 on the glass
unlikely seeing as the starting 5 has a 35/85ish look to it

Hey, you brought Carter...lol. ok, I am troll'n.

Spencer Haywood will be going 1st round in XLVIII....hide & watch.

Thanks for voicing your thoughts, postage. I have no idea who else you're bringing on as backups to the Erving Brand Wallace trio, so that's where my concern for usage comes in. I think it will be hard to find bench players around the usage you need, that also shoot well. I also don't know how you plan on building your rotation. If Bol is solely backing up Sanders, then your ast% won't be terrible. It will still be pretty bad, though.
Thank you for writing some evals! It was a fun read. The only reason I have $$ for decent backups is because my stating 5 only cost about $31 mill. combined.

And my ast% totally does suck :( hopefully Tinsley's 30% will help. I was really hoping to get Noah for his high ast at the 4.

Not to mention the almost non-existent 3's.

The only thing I agree with, is that you're team will probably be top 5 in steals, but only if you're going to run a press all season like you said you would.  You're team might be top 5 ast as well, but only if you run up-tempo.

As for your top 5 def:  You have an above average starting five with two 80's and two 90's, but your bench def. is really bad (with the exception of one guy who is a 75).

4/21/2014 6:10 PM
That weak bench, comprises about 10% of my min's, you should take a closer look at the other 90%. That 111/264 boardlord is on the glass for +45 min's, then there's Bird & Frazier..39 & 38 min's. That's 2 def 80's & 2 def90's in my starting lineup, they play major min's. Have fun with the def80 & def90 park'd on the perimeter. 23 guy's screw'd up by letting Frazier go midway in the freak'n 4th round.  I could not believe my eyes....
