I wasn't thinking about Josh Smith yesterday...but looking at his numbers, I like what he brings to the table for us. Thanks to the higher cap in this league, we can afford him.
He gives us the ability to do a number of things. Previous to the pick (and for now), I had Kobe at PG, Scottie at SG and Bobby Jones at SF. JSmoove doesn't have great orebs for a PF, but his drebs are pretty decent.
He gives us a little extra perimeter shooting in 4/5 seasons, too.
2400 - 2900 minutes is nice for consistency.
Since we don't have a "true" PG, if we run all four of our drafted guys as starters (with my current season slotting) we would have 54.8 - 62.6 Ast% in four starters (not great, but not terrible and again, fairly consistent).
Bobby has one season where he is only a 95% at SF, but, Josh has two seasons where he can play SG, if we want to mix it up with Josh or Scottie (still) at SG, the other at SF and move Bobby to PF.
We COULD also, depending on how things go, use Josh as a backup SG/SF/PF who provides some usage and assists off the bench.
We're between 100.2 and 102.7 total usage (16 or 17 tier points in each season).
At this point, I'm happy with where we are. With the way I, at the moment, have our seasons distributed we are between 10,657 and 11,612 minutes with between $27,712,627 and $31,036,129 spent in salary.
Having guys with fairly consistent minutes in their five seasons makes it pretty easy to swap seasons around...so far I'm trying to balance out the seasons (e.g. keep assists %, usage, perimeter shooting, etc. fairly even). I wonder how many people are using that method or trying to make one great season and do what they can with the rest.
Thoughts?
