1969 Draft League

How about a mini draft league? (4 Owners/Teams per Draft).

In 1969 MLB expanded to 24 teams and went with the 4 Divisions of 6 Teams Format shown below.
NL-EAST
New York Mets
Chicago Cubs
Pittsburgh Pirates
St. Louis Cardinals
Philadelphia Phillies
Montreal Expos
NL-WEST
Atlanta Braves
San Francisco Giants
Cincinnati Reds
Los Angeles Dodgers
Houston Astros
San Diego Padres
AL-EAST
Baltimore Orioles
Detroit Tigers
Boston Red Sox
Washington Senators
New York Yankees
Cleveland Indians
AL-WEST
Minnesota Twins
Oakland Athletics
California Angels
Kansas City Royals
Chicago White Sox
Seattle Pilots

This League however will only be a 16 Team League with 4 Teams in a Division giving everyone a bit more talent.

So, with that in mind, sign up stating which Division you want to be in. I will take the last spot available.

The 4 Owners from each Division will then hold their own seperate draft using the players from 1969 and the 6 Real Life teams from that Division. Random Draft order to start, then serpentine. You must pick 1 of the 6 Stadiums that were used within your Division in 1969 in the draft as well and each one will be exclusive. My research shows that this league will play out at about as a $80 Million Team plus whoever you have on the bench.

Any player that played for more than 1 Team in 1969 must use the appropriate partial version. If there is no partial version then you are not allowed to use that player. The only Combined versions of a player that are allowed are if that player played for 2 teams that are from the same division.

I'm in.  Division TBD

Two questions...

If a player played for two teams, but both team reside in the same division, couldn't we then use the combined version?

Is the ballpark part of the draft, or can two or more teams from a division use the same ballpark?

Question 1: Yes, that would be OK, IF he played for 2 teams within the same division. I will make a change in the rules.

Question 2: The ballpark is part of the draft and each park is exclusive which means 4 of the 6 will be used. 2 won't.

Take a look guys....... should be a fun quick draft, everyone will have exclusive ballplayers and ballparks.
Using a single season you'll be using players that don't normally get used and talent should be equally dispersed.
Not a cookie league.
Not a deadball league.
Drafting 4 teams from 6 will still provide plenty of good players for each team.
If we get this rolling we can advance to 1970 the next season and run it 'till 1977 when MLB went to 26 teams.

Are all players eligible to be drafted or are you only able to draft players from the division you choose?
5/4/2014 1:48 PM
I was wondering the same thing.  It looks like you draft from within division.
5/4/2014 1:52 PM
From the Division you choose, those 6 teams. That is why you pick a division.
