You're the one who seems to want to raise taxes on the poor.

My original plan had a significant exemption on taxable income.  You kept insisting there was a problem with that.  I reluctantly change it.  And now, here we are.

It's as if you're bi-polar.
I don't have a problem with the exemption. I'm asking for your rationale behind it. If all money has the same marginal utility, why give an exemption?

I'll go ahead and answer since you won't. All money doesn't have the same marginal utility. It makes sense to tax money with the lowest marginal utility. Which is why there's an exemption in your first plan. People need their first 60k more than they need their second.

That's why I took away the exemption.  Because if I make X dollars a year, dollar 1 is just as valuable to me as dollar X.  Because I earned 1, X, and everything in between.

It's not up to you decide what portion of my money is more valuable to me than any other portion of my money.

I'm not assuming anything.  You listed some examples of people who took money off the table and said "No thanks."   I listed people we know have made a lot of money and are saying "I'd like some more please."
Yea, they have a lot of money and also still want a lot more.
So why do you insist the 2nd million is less important than the first?    Or that they miss their tax money less than you do?
Everyone has a price.  Would you be a lead actor in a movie for $100?

No.

$1000?
No.

$50000?
Ehhh.....

$500,000?
Yes.

But Clooney's number is higher.  It's likely because he has a shitton of money already and doesn't need to put in that work for a measly $500K.  He'll just stop making movies.  The value of his next dollar probably isn't as high as yours.

Make sense?
That's because he is skilled enough to do that job and you get paid what you're worth. Opportunity cost. Just like lebron he can command more pay because he is better than a 7th man. Working for $100,000 when someone else will pay him $120 million would be stupid.

No, I'm saying the best rate becomes $500K.

That's why the next logical step is to say "so you're ok raising taxes on the lower class."

You're doing the "ask the same question over and over" thing again, BL.
NO ******* WAY!!!!  BL wouldn't do that.
tec is proving the next point BL made, so...

But, if Clooney has more money than he knows what to do with, why bother?   Hang out on the beach and pick up hot girls.

I contend that he makes more movies for one of two reasons:
1.  He just loves acting
2.  He wants more money

If it's 1, he'd act for free(or cost).   If it's 2, he doesn't have enough money and values that next dollar just as much as the others.

Because he wants to buy another mansion in Miami.  He's sick of staying in hotels.

That's not a shocker assuming he's saying tec keeps answering(or avoiding an answer).   I know I found that BL was like a little kid demanding praise for his fridge drawing.   He'll just keep at it until you tell him what he wants you to tell him.

Regardless, if the going rate became $500K, he's not doing it.  But I would.  The money has more value to me.

tec's talking in circles, yea. So when you or him complain about his asking the same questions over and over again, you could just answer them.

That doesn't work.   If you don't answer EXACTLY how he wants you to, he will continue to ask.

All else equal, probably not.  When he buys his 5th house, in Miami, it's not as important as the 4th house he bought.  Otherwise he would have bought it first.  Right?

No, I'm not really reading the conversation.   tec isn't quoting.

If I had to guess, I'd say tec did answer.   It may have been 5 pages ago or it may have been 30 pages ago.   Hell, it may have been in another thread on a different day.    But he didn't answer how BL NEEDED him to answer.    So BL asks again.
