If he's cut, obviously it will be because he isn't a good enough football player.

That said, I thought there was a good chance he'd go undrafted because the team wouldn't want to live with the distraction.  I think it's the reason nobody wants to take a chance on Tebow as a backup. Lots of media. I heard something about a reality show...I don't know if the Rams are in love with the idea of cameras following Michael Sam around everywhere.  And they'll get some **** if/when he's cut that will be undeserved.

Yes, Oprah is producing a docu-series or whatever they're calling it to chronicle his time as the first openly gay NFL player.

While I can't say I blame him, there's no real guarantee that he'll make it in the NFL, he can't say "I just want to be looked at as Michael Sam the football player" and do a reality show.   I can't imagine the Rams being very happy about it.    And that is it with Tebow.   I made that point last year.  He has to be a better back up option than many of those in the NFL.  But, if you have no plans to play your back-up, why invite the circus to town?

Anyway, my point was that, if he doesn't make it, the story will be because he's gay.  Not because he wasn't one the Rams best options.

I find it interesting that a guy gets suspended for tweeting OMG Horrible and another guy beats the f- out of his fiancee at a casino and there is no punishment at all from the NFL.

Saying something bad=bad

Beating the crap out of your broad=good

Yay NFL!!!!

Obviously gay men are more important than women.    Duh.

Rice obviously should also be suspended.

They'd look stupid by reacting now.   I'm guessing it's a NFLPA thing.

Protect their members, even if from one another.   Screw the outsiders.   Like a fiancee'.

I really haven't followed the Rice thing much...but did the fiance file any charges?

Has the NFL even made a comment on this issue?  At the VERY least, he should be fined a crap ton.

Of course she didn't.   That's kind of how domestic abuse works.

To the best of my knowledge, the NFL did not comment.  I believe the Ravens said they were investigating the incident.

I believe the fiance is now his wife.

Guess he just did it caveman-style.

See a ***** you like, knock her the **** out, drag her back to your cave, live happily ever after.

Seems that the NFL contacted various teams to find out if they had a spot on the practice squad for Sam.

That seems wrong.   Is it possible that a team didn't know Sam was cut?

If that actually happened, yes, that's wrong.  Where did you hear that?

Peter King before last night's game.   I think one of the ESPN talking heads also mentioned it.

If true, and PK has a lot of sources, it makes me wonder if the NFL didn't call the Rams and ask them to draft him.   "Hey, STL, you've got a bunch of 7th round picks.  How about use one on Sam?   But not the last one.  No Mr. Irrelevant crap.  Thanks in advance."

It doesn't seem right to do that.  But that said, the NFL also knows that a bunch of teams have him on their "don't sign" list because of the media attention it would bring.  "IS HE ALLOWED IN THE SHOWER?!?" So he's at a disadvantage already.  I guess they're trying to help out his odds, knowing he has the talent to at least be on a practice squad, and because, obviously it makes the NFL look good.
