: Well, actually, nobody on this planet ever really chooses each other. I mean, it's all a question of quantum physics, molecular attraction, and timing. Why, there are laws we don't understand that bring us together and tear us apart. Uh, it's like pheromones.
One of those reasons is why you want to join Crash Davis. Well that and a chance to win a$30 Gift Certificate in a dynamic league

Crash Davis would like to welcome our newest owner, asleson, and his Montreal Olympians. He is taking ownership of a franchise with 7 consecutive sub .500 season including a meager 56 wins last season. It will take a Herculean effort to turn the franchise around but asleson looks to be the man to lead them to the gold. He will also be competing for the $30 Gift Certificate. Will you be next?

The former Boston franchise is available coming off a 99 win season. The season was highlighted by a division title and they advanced to the Division Championship Round where they met their downfall at the hands of my Toledo Rodents of Unusual Size. Prior to the series their owner was quoted as saying "I don't believe they exist".

Their pitching staff is highlighted by an absolute stud in Terry Carson. He is only 27 and still under arbitration for 2 more seasons.

The lineup has a dominant 3b, Victor Witt , who could play a competent SS if that is how you decided to play him.

If you like your team built around speed and defense, this would be a great team for you. Check out the overall speed and base running skills @ the ML level. It is a veteran team built to win at the ML level and the minors are scarce, but the core of the team is still in it's prime with only 6 players between the ages of 32 to 36 and they are all pitchers. so they should hold their ratings for a few more seasons.
The owner who takes on this franchise will compete in the division against the following teams.
1. Pittsburgh Allegheny Splashers - 76 - 86 last season. http://www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/FranchiseProfile.aspx?fid=4379
2. Norfolk Kraken - 71-91 last season. http://www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/FranchiseProfile.aspx?fid=4380
3. New York Skyliners - 70 - 92 last season.  http://www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/FranchiseProfile.aspx?fid=4381

The former Charleston Franchise is in need of a new owner to take over a franchise coming off a disappointing 62 win season.

Offensively the team has some very talented players in
Damaso Sanchez and Roosevelt Rolle.
The pitching staff is o.k. but lacks an ace.
The minors are lacking
but the team will be drafting high. I believe they have the 3rd pick.

Their division rivals consist of:
1. Texas Tequila - http://www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/FranchiseProfile.aspx?fid=4375
2. Atlanta SlowPokes - http://www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/FranchiseProfile.aspx?fid=4376
3. El Paso  Diablo - http://www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/FranchiseProfile.aspx?fid=4377
So basically you would be in a division against the devil who runs very slow because he's drunk on Tequila. Sounds like a division you could win.

Open Franchise Spotlight NL West
There are 3 openings in the NL West
1. http://www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/FranchiseProfile.aspx?fid=4382
The former Vancouver Franchise is coming off of a 78 win season. It has a very potent offense with 25 year old phenom,  Esteban Olmeda and a host of other great hitters such as Santos Guapo, Dean Robertson, and Valerio Johnson and all the great stats were achieved playing in a neutral ballpark. They also have a good pitching staff. With a little tweaking this team can win now and win big.

2. http://www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/FranchiseProfile.aspx?fid=4385
The former Helena team has struggled for a while and is coming off of a 67 win season. The offense has some nice pieces in Hamlet Bean, and Alex Booker. and the pitching has some o.k. pieces to build with but needs a couple of big time pitchers.
The minors have a good player in Thumper Gilbert (AA)

3. http://www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/FranchiseProfile.aspx?fid=4384
The former Los Angeles franchise is coming off of a modest 63 win season and will have a high draft pick. Offensively, Steven Hernandez  is a definite bonus with his glove. He played a capable CF last year but I see him as a 3b. Offense, however, was definitely the weak link of the team last year finishing 2nd to last in runs scored. From a pitching standpoint Jeff Wagner had a stellar year and the team ERA was a solid 4.20. As for the minors, well they do have players to fill the rosters . From what I can tell the team only has about $11M committed to salary for this season and they have a high draft pick so there are lots of opportunities to mold this franchise in your image.

You will compete in this division against the San Diego Anchormen, and yes, they have petitioned the league to wear leisure suits. http://www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/FranchiseProfile.aspx?fid=4383

Crash Davis quote from Bull Durham : "I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone.I believe there ought to be a Constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe you should join Crash Davis. The latter was edited from the original script due to copyright infringement concerns. Nonetheless. He's right, well at least he's right about joining Crash Davis. I don't want to get into the whole conspiracy truth about Oswald, I liked Astroturf and the DH has some merit. Anyway. join Crash Davis today.

Crash Davis (SUBLIMINAL) was played by (MESSAGE) Kevin Costner who in baseball terms (JOIN) has the range of (CRASH DAVIS) Prince Fielder (NOW) playing SS. The poll question is which iconic role would Costner have destroyed the most?

AL North spotlight. There are 2 teams available in this division
1. www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/FranchiseProfile.aspx
The former Fargo franchise is coming off a 101 win season and has a lot of offensive weapons including David Abreu who is only 28.and has a very good pitching staff with pitchers such as Sal Boone. This is a team that is ready to win now.

2 www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/FranchiseProfile.aspx
The former Columbus franchise is at the opposite end of spectrum in that they won a meager 56 games last year. They do have some players to build around such as pitcher Wilt Jordan. the franchise has some solid minor league players and will draft high this season. They also have only 5 contracts greater than 500k with the largest being 6.8M. There are no $20,000,000 contracts with 4 remaining years for a 40 year old SS.

Generally Strong league with a good board.  Consider joining and keeping this league going.  With all the choices, how can a league named "Crash" do you wrong!!!

AL EAST SPOTLIGHT. There are 2 teams available in this division.
1. www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/FranchiseProfile.aspx
The former Washington franchise is coming off a respectable 86 win season but it could have been much better with some breaks. They were 9th in runs scored in the majors and 8th overall in ERA. A few breaks or the right addition and you have a world series caliber team.

2. www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/FranchiseProfile.aspx
This franchise is coming off 3 season of 70 or less wins but I'm sure it has some players to build on and if you find them please let me know who they are. . Obviously I am just teasing as there are some quality players but it will need some solid work to right this organization.
