How many rookies can you name who were nearly 30 when they arrived at the SHOW, but stayed for the next 20 years?


One of them is '52 Hoyt Wilhelm, my 7th Round pick from Appalachia.

The round of the pitchers. When I was looking to see who was still available this morning I was surprised to see Koufax not taken. Great pickup Cardsfan.
I'll take a non-pitcher   1986 Barry Larkin - SS  from Ohio. He played his whole career in his hometown - 18 years.

Lou Piniella made it to the show at age 30 in 1969 (see Jim Bouton's "Ball Four" and won Rookie of the Year. But he only stayed for 20 years if you count managing.

To be honest I was telling myself I'd make my pick after whoever had stagecoach (because that is my round 8 pick), but it seems sooners has dissappeared for the time being. Hoping that when he does pick, he doesn't pick the man I'm eyeing. For now, from Cali...
