That's a great list
All but Palmiiero belongs in the Hall

You might be right
The voters seem to love compiling numbers

I don't think Beltre can hold 6 of those guy's jock

How about you list all the 3000 hit "compilers" who AREN'T in the Hall of Fame.

Shouldn't take very long.
No.
You're right.
Only 2
Palmiero
Biggio
And Brock shouldn't be

And IF he ever gets there ... Neither should Beltre
You forgot Pete Rose on that list...

No I didn't
Anyone that doesn't think Pete rose belongs in the HOF I have little time for.

I was answering your question of players with 3000 hits that aren't in the HOF. I think he should be in the HOF since he didn't bet against the Reds to lose.

Re-instate Peter H. Rose now!!!!!!!

before any further inductions!

So cheating in the form of breaking written and established rules of the game AND, in numerous cases, state or federal law, by betting on baseball while being involved in the sport, is fine.  He should be in.

But "cheating" by doing something (using PEDs) that is against the law but NOT against the established rules of the sport makes Palmeiro undeserving?
I never said that. You assumed that

I never watched Palmiero and said HOF.
All-star? Sure.
Just like Beltre

Here's the list of guys with 450/3000

Hank Aaron
Willie Mays
Eddie Murray
Stan Musial
Rafael Palmeiro
Dave Winfield
Carl Yastrzemski

If you add Beltre to that list in 2018ish, I don't see how he doesn't get in. Especially when you consider the fact that he's been a great defensive 3rd baseman on top of the offense.

I thought that you and all your new-age advanced stats eschewed the tradition old "counting" stats and were all about the advanced "rate" stats.

Yet here you are, counting home runs and hits and ignoring OPS+.

I thought we had also moved past the point where there are certain "magic numbers" for compiled stats that get you into the HOF.  No?

I mentioned his OPS+ in the very first post of the thread.

Thanks for playing.
