The "ORIGINAL DRAFT LEAGUE"  XLIX
The Ultimate $47M Challenge in SIM Basketball for 48 seasons.

Season 48 was all about parity.  It was I win 30 games, You win 30 games and the other
22 games decided the difference.  I expect the same for Season XLIX.
The undrafted bench plays such a key role in the ODL and it's difficult to judge the
teams without knowing who the last five players are.
I have found owners who spend more money on the bench usually fare better than
very expensive starting fives.  At least that's been my experience.
Still you have to have Superstars to win titles.  The $47 Million cap is a great challenge
and makes the Original League the best theme league going.  No offense dh!
Smokey does a magnificent job organizing this league and runs a great draft.  Thank You!
Hooray it's draft day!

.EASTERN CONFERENCE

Atlantic
felonius: Ben Wallace, Bob McAdoo, Elton Brand, Rajon Rondo, Danny Green, Dell Curry, Carlos Boozer
Big Ben is DEFENSE and next to Rodman NOBODY rebounds like him.  On offense his only shot is a dunk
and it usually goes in.  '73-'74 (55 efg%) McAdoo should be a great compliment to Wallace.  In the early 70's
Bob was MVP material and would score at will.  Elton at 3 rounds out an excellent front court.  He's one of the best
at SF in a league brimming over at the position.  High usage player who can score while playing great defense.
Seems like this trio is a bit expensive.  Rondo is a god send for this team in the 4th.  His '09 -'10 year seems to
be going #1 on the charts.  Shut down defender (90), plenty of dimes (34.9 asst%) and shoots above 50% efg.
Unfortunately his poor FT shooting 62.1% is a drawback for a guard.  Still he'll keep the three big usage
(Boozer included) happy with plenty of assists.  '12-'13 was a breakout year for Danny Green.  A shut down defender (84)
with low fouls (2.7) who can kill you from beyond the arc (413 3PA @ 58.1 efg).  Del "Dad" Curry will team with Green
and will keep the 3 point threat in the game.  His defense is suspect but will give felonius some valuable minutes without
breaking the bank.  Tough to pass on Boozer in the 6th rd.  He'll adequately spell McAdoo and should see some mins.
at the 3 (SF 97%). Good rebounder but is a real liability on defense and I think that's why so many owners are reluctant
to draft him. Felonius still needs to find quality help at PG.  Big Bens lack of offense is the question and will all the usage
around him make up the difference.  If it does felonius will be writing the evals next season.

postage: Dwyane Wade, Kevin Love, Andrei Kirilenko, Jamario Moon, Draymond Green, Larry Sanders,
Manute Bol

Dwyane at #8 may be a bit early but, Darth is top ten material.  When he has the ball good
things happen and he's shut down on the other end.  Love plays no Defense and that is a
major drawback in this league.  On the offense he'll thrive with Wade.  He rebounds and shoots
the Three always a bonus for a post player.  Can't wait to see him with LeBron in RL NBA!
AK47 is a great 3rd rd. pick so efficient, so versatile and so clean.  Postage can go so many
different directions from here.  The direction is defense, rebounding & very low usage%.
Starting with '07-'08 Moon any player who can rebound (dreb% 20.4) at 100% SG is very special
and will be drafted in the ODL.  He'll shoot some threes but isn't a sharpshooter (32.8%).
He isn't drafted for his offense and defense is outstanding (def rating 92) & low fls (3.4).
Are you trying to make up for Loves lack of defense?  Another New Kid on the Block Draymond Green
brings just about the same game as Moon.  His defensive rating (91) but fouls way to much for the ODL
(6.2).  just like Moon he'll throw up some threes but not enough go in (33.3%).
'12-'13 LARRY SANDERS is the coveted Holy Grail of back up Centers in these elite theme leagues.
Congratulations postage!  With Sanders and the other aforementioned defensive specialist Love has no
need to ever cross the half court line.  Great defense (92) along with a creb (35.5).  Then to continue the
theme of absolutely no offense comes the player with absurd low I mean LOW usage% (7 - 10) If the sim
could give a player a usage% of 2 Manute Bol would get it.  He's the greatest shot blocker of All-Time bl% (10.2).
Defense rating doesn't get any better (100). He doesn't rebound very well but he's a minutes stretcher and will
give you some extra minutes for a few dollars. Will Dwyane & Kevin be enough offense for this team.  The defense
& rebounding seems to be covered.  Would have liked to see another big scorer on this team and postage may be
able to find him in the undrafted pool.  If not I don't see this squad in the playoffs.

mikee1: Karl Malone, Donyell Marshall, Steve Nash, Anthony Mason, Charles Oakley, Nene Hilario,
Jordan Farmar

The Mailman delivers and is always a great player to build around especially with the #10 pick.
Donyell is the perennial best SF in the ODL.  Great Def with plenty of threes. Malone & Marshall
has a ring to it.  Great Combo.  Nash is the only MVP I can think of who didn't play any defense.
Still a PG who shoots over 60% efg truly amazing and his Asst% rivals Stockton.
Karl should see plenty of the Pick & Roll with Steve.  His lack of Defense really hurts and mikee
will need to address perimeter defense.  Mason is a solid pick in the 4th.  I'm just not sure if he fits
well with Malone.  His '96-'97 features great defense (80), low fl (3.1), low usage with a very impressive
ast% (17.1).  The problem is his boards with a creb of 31. So are you moving Karl to the 5.  I'm o.k. with
that and Mason to the 4.  Now your going to suffer on the glass especially against some of the big
board teams.  Oakley was a smart choice because the Oak is all about rebounding & defense.  Another
problem because both Malone & Mason are 39 - 40+ mpg and there's not much playing time for Charles.
Put Oakley at the 3 and use his boards there.  o.k. but now Marshall has to play the 2.  Which he can
at (97%) but it limits his effectiveness.  An interesting conundrum and it'll be interesting to see how mikee
handles it.  Nene is an effective back up for Malone when he needs a short breather.  Farmar brings plenty
of threes to the team and again is a solid role player in the ODL.  His ast% (16.1) is low for a PG but it's
adequate if Mason is in the game to help with the dimes.  Too many questions about the pieces of this
team to know if it will work in the sim.  Still this could be a winning squad.

robocoach: John Stockton, Alonzo Mourning, Chris Webber, Gerald Wallace, Brandon Rush, Rodrique Beaubois,
Leon Powe

In the early '80s it always looked like Stockton was playing in his tightie whities.  Even if he was playing in his
underwear the results speak for themselves. He does it all as Point and a good pick at #12Mourning & Webber
will benefit from John's passing prowess and should score in bunches.  Alonzo is more than adequate defensively.
Webber is a question mark and time will tell if this will work out. Both of these guys are a little weak on the boards
which could spell trouble.  Wallace is a great 4th rd. pick and it looks like he's slotted at the 3.  I really like him at
the 2 as well but coach has decided to go with more threes from that position and it may be a wise choice.
He joins the ODLs stable of amazing SFs and his '09-'10 season features a shut down defender (90), with fouls (3.0),
efg% (51.1) and an outstanding Dreb% (21.6) which will dominate most of the leagues other  SFs.  Strong backcourt
defense featured here with John (80) at PG, Brandon at SG (76) & Gerald (900at SF.
The '11-'12 Rush season features a magnificent efg% (60.7, 273 3PA at 45.1%.  Too bad he didn't hoist another
200 of them.  A very strong defender (76) and extremely low fouls (1.8).  With his 6th picks coach picks Beaubois to
tandem with Rush at the 2. His '09-'10 minutes are few but extremely effective.  Rodrigue is an ODL staple off the bench
and his numbers don't lie.  Hi usage% (24.8), incredible efg% (59.4), can pass (ast% 13.4) and solid defender (70).
Ddepending on how coach spends his money he may have plenty left to snag some very valuable non drafted players
and there are some good ones left out there.
Picking Webber with the 3rd pick may have been a mistake but if it works out with him and Alonzo good things could
lay ahead for this team.  Having little Johnny at PG is always helpful and he'll draw the ire of the fans with his seemingly
dirty play.  Atlantic could be his for the taking.

dh555: Moses Malone, Chauncey Billups, Patrick Ewing, Clarence Weatherspoon, Nick Anderson, Michael Ruffin,
and then....

For some reason Moses has dropped from #3 or #4 status to #7 or #8 and I'm not sure why.  He'll get you to the
playoffs and with the right supporting cast it will be fo-fo-fo. Chauncey is an excellent balance pairing with Malone
and his 605 3PA is a huge plus.  With two picks dh has addressed rebounding and perimeter play.  In the third rd.
he completes the post with inside scoring from Patrick Ewing.  The best part is you don't have to worry about his
lack of rebounding.  '00-9'01 Spoon is yet another in a plethora of fantastic SFs in the ODL.  Better yet he's a perfect
fit for this team.  Creb (31.4), great defense (84), low fls (3.0), won't score much but is efficient efg% (50.1).
Nick will be running with Chauncey at the 2.  Brings decent defense (61) and low fls (2.6), decent ast% (12.2),
shoots 312 3PA but at a clip of 32.2% you'll want Chauncey behind the arc more than Anderson.  '07-'08 Ruffin
is tenacious on the offensive boards (15.4%) and that's about it.  And then and then it's the magical mystery pick?
dh usually brings very strong teams to these elite leagues and this one looks like a winner.

natenoy: Stephen Curry, Marcus Camby, Ray Allen, Robert Parish, Paul Pierce, Art Williams, Dan Gadzuric
One of the New Kids on the Block climbs the charts to #18.  Is he ready to be the alpha dog in the highly
competitive ODL?  Nate seems to think so and that's what counts.  Camby is an ODL staple inside with
his mad dog rebounding and solid Def.  Good 2nd rd. pick.  Then Nate goes fishing for more treys in the
3rd round.  It seems not that long ago Ray Gun was the late first rd. pick how times have changed
when he's available here.  Wow a nightmare 3pt. backcourt should be fun to see them raining down from heaven.
By ODL standards an average Def backcourt.  Nate scores big with The Chief to combo with Camby.  Big Bob's
'80-'81 year is HOF superb defense (91), high usage (27.1) at 54.4 efg% and strong on the boards.  I like Pierce
in the 5th but you need to understand THE TRUTH IS EXPENSIVE.  Can you handle the truth? His '01-'02 is awesome
but how do you fit it in under the cap?  It'll be interesting to see how Nate fits him into this team.
The last two picks are solid bench players.  Art Williams '71-'72 is ignored in so many of these leagues and should be
used more often.  He adds another 112 3PA ( but really how many treys can one team shoot?), His 25.5 ast% is his
biggest asset as a sub.  Gadzuric is huge on the boards (41.6 creb) and is tenacious on the offensive glass.  Just an
average defensive player but good value with the 47 M cap.  Allen & Pierce will be interesting to watch how those two
fit in with this team.  If all goes well maybe just maybe natenoy will be doing the evaluations once again!

benhoidal: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Anfernee Hardaway, Bill Walton, Jason Terry, Kyle Korver, Jon Barry,
Al Horford

KAJ has so many showcase years to choose from and a spectacular career.  A solid #4 pick.
'95-'96 Penny is one of the all time best in the WifS library.  An awesome duo with great inside
and out balance.  A scary team and with the 3rd pick of Walton it just gets worse.  Bill is a very
expensive player and worth every penny.  If only he had a year with 3000+ minutes Walton would
be a perennial 1st rd. pick. I had the pleasure of seeing him play pro ball a few times in person
and was always impressed how he could control the game.  Heard he was a decent drummer as well.
I think he traded the rest of his picks for a bag of beans.  A superstar trio and not much else.
KAJ - YES, Anfernee - YES, 28 minutes of Bill - YES. The rest won't be enough to get to the playoffs.

jkaye24: Lebron James, Oscar Robertson, Dikembe Mutombo, Terrell Brandon, Paul Silas, Troy Murphy,
Dominic McGuire

His '12-'13 catapulted Lebron to the top of the ODL heep.  The most watched and most covered player
in a generation.  PG, SG, SF, PF or why not try him at Center? It'll be fun to watch him play in Cleveland
and I'm happy for the long suffering Cavalier fans.  Everybody knows Oscar by his first name.  He was and
still is and always will be Cincinnati Basketball.  Robertson's $10 M '62-'63 season is too expensive for the
ODL and his usage is way too high for a Lebron team.  Perhaps the '69-'70 is a better option?
With the third round pick Mount Motombo is shouldered with the inside responsibility.   He's a great defender
but his best defensive year isn't a great rebounding year.  His great rebounding year comes with a lower
defensive rating.  A conundrum.  '95-'96 Terrell Brandon is always a great pick defense (81), low fls (2.7)
ast% (27.2) shoots some treys with a respectable efg% (50.5).  Now it looks like James will move to the 3.
Which is where or so I've been told is not the right position to use him.  I had Lebron one time many seasons
ago and I used him at PG and my team won about 30 games so I'm not a Lebron expert.  I dig Silas and he'll
be a big help on the boards for Dikembe.  Many great seasons to choose from all with solid defense (80s) and
tremendous creb.  A bulldog on the offensive glass and you'll need them.  The '09-'10 Murphy was once upon
a time an ODL staple.  A post player who shoots treys with the best of them.  Great Defensive rebounder (27.2%)
but he spends so much time beyond the arc he is no help on the offensive glass.  With all those other high usage
players patrolling the perimiter he may get lost and he's a matador on defense.  At least you'll be entertained with
McGuire's half time version of "Eve of Destruction".  An entertaining team as well and I get to play you 8 times!
Good Luck & Good Health to you!

eleibowitz: David Robinson, Manu Ginobili, Wes Unseld, Derek Harper, Charlie Edge, Ricky Pierce, Eddie Griffin
I love DRob and would use him anytime I have a top 10 pick.  His 13.5 TO% is amazing considering his high usage.
He protects the ball and this one stat in my mind separates him from the other elite top 5 big men.  2nd rd. pick Manu
is a special one of a kind player and that is why he's so valuable.  Great backcourt rebounder,  smart passer and will
drain the clutch trey.  Unseld is just the ticket for this team.  He covers Robinsons weakness in spades and is a great
post passer which is always a bonus.  Eleibo doesn't need a hi asst% PG because this team already passes so well.
'89-'90 Harper will thrive on this team and he mixes well with Manu.  Good usage% (22.0), shoots 3s and a great
efg% (52.7), solid passer and stout defender (80).  Super sub Charlie Edge set the ABA world on fire in '73-'74 with
the hapless Tams.  Superb defense (85), good efg% (50.0) and with a 33.2 creb he's flexible enough to play at the
3 or at the 4.  Eleibowitz kind of went off the rails in the 6th round picking Ricky Pierce & Eddie Griffin.  Both have
their strong points but can either compete in the ODL?  Pierce is an outstanding shooter who loves to drive to the
basket and get fouled ('86-'87 440 FT @ 88.0%).  Defense is subpar and he doesn't do much else.  Griffin is a
shut down defender (87), good rebounder and should combo well with Edge at the 3. Eddie is a very poor shooter
by ODL standards and I'm not sure how much he'll help this team.  In any case eleibowitz always bring a strong
teams to this league and the first 5 picks are championship caliber will the 6th round make him a failure or a
genius.  This team still has a good shot at winning the division.

cjok1051: Larry Bird, Kobe Bryant, Serge Ibaka, Maurice Cheeks, Tree Rollins, Pau Gasol, Kenyon Martin
Nothing wrong with Larry Legend at #16.  His '86-'87 is truly legendary stuff.  The '86-'87 Celtic
team that year may be the best ever.  Give Larry the ball.  Cj's 2nd rd. pick makes my head spin.
Kobe is a fine 2nd rd. pick but I don't think he teams well with Bird.  His usage is too high and
will detract from Birds game and neither player will flourish.  Time will tell if this works.
In the 3rd rd. he's back on track with Ibaka an outstanding defensive SF and just what this
team needs.  Will Serge push Bird to PF?  Plenty of needs still to be addressed.
Cheeks is a top flite PG and you can pick him up in the middle of the draft.  His best season is '85-'86
and gives cjok plenty of other options.  All with great defense (80 - 90), low fls (2.7), low usage efficient scorer
and no doubt you can win with him in the backcourt.  An excellent pairing with Kobe & Larry.
Rollins is a big time post defender (90 - 100 & 7.6 bl%) as his nick might imply.  Happy to leave the scoring
to Bird & Bryant.  Picked up Gasol to add some low post scoring and always a strong 6th rd. pick.  His '09-'10
year is solid and he give you much needed post scoring (53.9 efg%) and solid boards (32.1 creb).
I have to admit I don't like the pick of Martin at all.  He doesn't normally get drafted and shouldn't.  Especially
with this club.  His best SF season (a Bird sub) doesn't match his usage at all too low while Bird is very high.
And he doesn't work as a PF in this elite of a league.  Besides his best PF just isn't anywhere near the quality
to be found on other teams.  Other better options with lower minutes were available.  Every team in this division
looks scary and I'm afraid this team will struggle to win more than it loses.

98average: Charles Barkley, Kevin McHale, Terry Porter, Emeka Okafor, Paul Pressey, Antonio Daniels,
JaVale McGee

Having never used Sir Charles in this league I'm not sure what to make of him.  Many owners love him
and why not he's incredibly efficient.  I think 98 brings an unorthodox approach to the draft.  Sometimes
it works magnificently for him.  McHale is a solid 2nd rd. pick but unorthodox if he plans on using him
at Center.  Kevin will score on anyone down low and plays great defense.  His rebounding is woeful
at the 5 compared to others in this league.  Barkley will have to shoulder the rebounding load or is
Charles the SF and McHale the PF?  Terry Porter is a great Point Guard with the 3rd rd. pick and
gives this team some much needed balance and plenty of 3s.  Looks like Okafor will be playing the 5
and he's a nice fit there.  Terrific '06-'07 with the Bobcats and helps Charles on the boards (37.3 creb),
decent usage% (53.2 efg%) and defense is adequate (71).  Emaka - 5, Kevin - 4 & Charles - 3
be a terrifying trio.  Pressey is a nice running mate with Porter.  Doesn't shoot any treys but over the top
marks everywhere else especially the 93 defensive rating.  Daniels is an ODL staple off he bench and
has some good seasons to choose from.  Not a great defender usually but his contribution off the bench
is his strength.  JaVale subs in and gives this team a shot in the arm on the boards.  I like using him in
theme leagues and progs.  Not a whole lotta minutes but good value in the ODL.  Plenty of great pieces
and we'll see if they can gel together as a team.  Could go deep into the playoffs and give 98 next seasons
bragging rights or Sir Charles might get an early start on his golf game.

seapilots: Tim Duncan, Gary Payton, Larry Nance, Clifford Ray, Kris Humphries, Baron Davis, Chris Mullin
I've finally discovered a winning formula for this league and will try to use it again for Season 49.
Start with a big man and Timmaaay was the best available.  He scores down low, plays great defense
and can rebound but he needs help in that catagory.  Next PG and The Glove is one of my favs both
in RL and WifS.  Watched him play many times and never saw a better on the ball defender than him
in his prime.  It was fun watching him mature into a HOF player.  His 50.2 efg% is acceptable and the
520 3PAs help but his 44.8 fg% w/ 1666 FGA is too low here.  I love Nance with the 3rd rd. pick!
55 efg%, 92 D rating and a great rebounder at SF.  very efficient player and I was surprised with
how many Player of the Game awards he received last season with the Whiteskins.
These next 2 PFs make a great platoon and add up to exactly 48 MPG combined.  Compare
'71-'72 Cliff Ray 4.3 M, rebounds (45.5 creb), efg% (51.1), usage% (14.2) & defense (61)
'10-'11 Kris Humphries 5.0 M, rebounds (41.7 creb), efg% (52.7), usage% (17.5) & defense (59)
PF totals 9.3 M, 48 MPG, rebounds (43.6 creb), efg% (51.9), usage% (15.8) & defense (60).
These two do the dirty work and are a must with a Center like Duncan who needs help on the boards.
Baron is just 5 MPG back up for Payton.  High usage matching Gary and ast% (33.1).
Pretty much holds the spot while The Glove gets some water.  The '92-'93 Mullin was a real key to
last years title team.  Great shooter, low fouls (1.9), solid D (66).  Adds another hi usage player to the mix.
It's very similiar to last seasons team with Duncan at C instead of The Admiral ( a slight down grade)
and Payton at PG in place of Curry.  He's not as good of a shooter but superior defender and still
shoots 520 3PA enough to keep opponents honest ( slight upgrade to even).  Another title?  Probably not
but should challenge for the playoffs.

WESTERN CONFERENCE

Midwest
smokey57: Dwight Howard, Buck Williams, Deron Williams, Vince Carter, A.C. Green, Chris Dudley,
Earl Watson

Ronny Howard is a steal at #9.  I have him in the URAPP and he's always a horse.
Pairing him with Uncle Buck makes this a BIG team.  Plenty of rebounding and defense.
Dwight can score down low and I think Buck will stay out of his way.  The '07-'08 Deron
year is elite for a Point Guard and a very smart 3rd rd. pick.  Nice balance on this team
so far.  Well so much for the balance '00-'01 Carter brings plenty of treys, great defense (80),
For a players with such very high usage% (30+) you'd like to see their efg% in the 53 - 55%
range and Vince's efg% is 50.5.  You want this team to be the Dwight & Deron show and I
think Vince will take too many scoring opportunities from them.  So players who are shooting
53% & 57% are being passed over by a player who isn't as good. Yes he gives you much
needed perimeter shooting and that will help.  We'll see if the negatives outweigh the positives
he brings.  A.C. was a very smart pick and he'll meld right into this team the same way he did
with the Lakers & Suns in real life.  Great Defense (80) and an very efficient player.
'91-'92 Dudley only does one thing extremely well Oreb% (17.4) Wow! He'll block shots blk% (5.2)
He'll eat some minutes and that's good but absolutely no offense.  None. I Iike the Green pick better.
Earl Watson does a nice job off the bench and he won't hurt you and has several good seasons to
choose from.  4 out of the 5 starters give this team the look of a true title contender.  Dwight - 1,
Buck - 2, A.C. - 3 & Deron - 1.  Will Carter - 2 be the straw who stirs the drink who makes smokey do next
seasons evals or will he be the party pooper?

mcdarsh: Kevin Garnett, Shawn Kemp, Andrew Bynum, Brent Barry, Jamaal Tinsley, Jameer Nelson,
Nick Van Exel

The Big Ticket's '02-'03 season at SF is worthy of a first round pick.  34.5 creb at the 3 is unheard of, plenty of
dimes (18'6%), D rating (90) and an acceptable 50.8 efg.  The '93-'94 or '95-'96 seasons for Kemp are monsters.
Bynum was an MVP candidate in '11-'12 and has since disappeared much to the chagrin of the 76ers.  A front
court of Garnett - 3, Kemp - 4 & Bynum - 5 is formidable and should keep you in contention for the playoffs.
Barry is an excellent fit at SG '01-'02 61.1 efg%!  Jamaal & Jameer are adequate in the backcourt but with all
the great 1-2 combos in the ODL they may scuffle.  Van Exel isn't drafted very often in the ODL though he does
offer plenty of treys at a good % and dimes.  His downside is no defense and a terrible fg% of 40 -41 from inside
the arc.  I'm afraid he will be lit more than he lights up.  I like this team but the PGs are average at best in this league
and that is a big problem.

jhsukow: Hakeem Olajuwon, Jason Kidd, Marques Johnson, Mel Daniels, Mark Price, J.R. Smith, Nate McMillan
The Dream rivals Moses as the ODLs top offensive rebounder.  His '84-'85 rookie season caused a league wide
sensation.  He's versatile plays either 4 or 5, can score and is a crafty defender.  He'll have his hands full in this div.
with Dwight & Wilt.  Kidd has dropped out of first round favor but is a solid 2nd rd. pick.  He'll hang with any point in
the league.  Great asst.% (31.8), low fouls and a solid defensive rating (82).  He wears his refuse to shoot T shirt
during the games but his 414 3PA puts him in elite status.  Marques is the other MJ and is a vastly underrated player.
I especially like his '77-'78 season at SF and his 20 reb% and his best Defensive rating (74).  However plenty of great
years to choose from.  ABA Pacer superstar Daniels is exactly what this team needed to help Hakeem on the boards.
Average defensively but his 115FG+% is sneaky good and he'll also help offensively.  Kidd should help him get a
few more buckets.  With the right SG and bench this team might suprise?  Three very smart picks to end the draft.
It will be very interesting to see how a backcourt of Kidd & Price will pan out.  I'm assuming J.R. will swing from
2 to 3 and still more treys (this team seems to have an abundance of them) please let me know your grand total
when  your roster is set.  Then Mac is the cherry on top as the perfect sub for Kidd.  Everybody wants Nate for their
6th rd. pick!  He plays outstanding D, distributes, shoots a few 3s, His steal% is somewhere outside in the stratosphere.
ODL maxim states an Hakeem team will never win a title.  SO many nice pieces surrounding him and that may be
the difference.  Looks like an excellent draft to me jh!

vancem: Kevin Durant, Shawn Marion, Tom Boerwinkle, Willis Reed, Doug Christie, Will Purdue,Dale Ellis
KD's '12-'13 is unmatched in excellence.  Give him the ball and let him do his thing!  The Matrix is
always a great 2nd rd. pick and may have the most versatility in the WifS database.  Boerwinkle
gives you great value for the money  and does an outstanding job in the ODL.  Tough rebounder
and is the best passing big man in the game which is always a bonus.  Unfortunately you'll have to
live with his fouling addiction.  '69-'70 the legendary Willis Reed enforces, intimidates  & all around nice guy.
Going old school with Boerwinkle and a great pick for the 4th rd. very versatile can play equally well at 4 or 5.
perfect usage for this team (22.1), scores (51.5efg%) solid creb (34.2).   Just what K.D. & Marion need.
I love the '02-'03 Christie but I'm not sure at PG. This may work with Kevin at the 2 so it's really PG by combo
which is kind of old school back in the day when there was just guard & guard (Monroe & Frazier, Van Lier & Sloan,
Maravich & Hudson, Murphy & Newlin etc.)  Anyway Doug (hails from area code 206) is a shut down defender (90),
ast% 17.1, low fl (3.3) and good steals.  Won't shoot much and that's agood thing with K.D. & The Matrix.
Perdue is barely average on defense but your drafting him for minutes and his 38.1 creb.  Good sub for Bullwinkle.
Ellis is a bit of a reach here since it looks like you need more PG help.   I guess since Boerwinkle is more of a point
Center you'll get some more asst% in the undrafteds.  Dale will give you treys and plenty of them and plenty of different
good years with varying $ options.  Plays no defense at all.  I watched him with the Sonics when they had X man & Chambers.
Truly an amazing outside shooter and you had better not let him square up.  He looked like a for runner of Ray Allen when
he was hot.  Never had Ray's all around game to match.  Can a Durant team really challenge for the ODL title?
I really like the old school feel of this team.  We'll see if the Durant & Christie back court works in this league.

banditone: Julius Erving, Bill Russell, Jerry West, Clyde Drexler, Swen Nater, Happy Hairston, Tony Kukoc
The good Doctor such a magnificent career and a steal at pick #24!  Russ is one of my All-Time favorite sports legends.
It's too bad WifS treats him with such blatant disrespect and not put his D ratings between 90 & 100 for EVERY year.
Still he cleans the boards and distributes the basketball.  Wow a back court of The Logo (I'm assuming you'll use '71-'72)
and Clyde the Glide (many great years to choose)!  You definitely have your backcourt usage covered though Julius
may not get all his shots but I'm sure it will work out.  A multi talented threesome.  Bandit your one quality big man away
from a club that could go deep into the playoffs.  Swen & Happy the former rebounds & efg% is very good the latter rebounds
and efg% is good.  Both of them play NO defense and the interior defense is left up to Russ who as mentioned earlier is
totally disrepected by WifS.  Kukoc is a great pick and he'll add some much needed treys off the bench.
Your team will rebound & score.  I'm afraid the lack of defense at PF will hurt your chances for a title but this club will battle
for post season.

scudmissle: Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry Lucas, Walt Frazier, Sidney Moncrief, Ron Harper, Jason Richardson,
Walt Williams

'66-'67 Wilt always does wonders for your hair.  Use him twice a day and your hair will be fuller, thicker and stronger.
An added bonus is if used correctly you'll go deep into the playoffs with a good chance to win the title.  Lucas is
becoming Wilt's permanent brainy & brawny sidekick and a great PF to boot.  Unfortunately Jerry contracts a mysterious
and deadly disease during the preseason and ends up in the hospital.  Wilt is so moved by his good friends courage under
such pain and adversity that he writes a book telling of their ordeal. A moving heartfelt story of the love between the two
men titled "I'm still First".
Clyde is an interesting 3rd pick.  Excellent defender and the '71-'72 year is a very good year.  The asst% is too low to
play him at Point.  I would have loved seeing this hip '70s trio as part of a USA Olympic team.  Stock up the backcourt
with some fresh supplies.  Frazier & Moncrief in the back court is a shut down and tighten the screws duo.  Moncrief
can score as well.  Ron Harper will spend his time backing up both guards.  Another awesome defender in the high
80s to 90s range.  Not great asst% but it'll have to do and again he can score.  A very underrated superstar with the
Cavs for a few years.  Richardson & Williams bring just what every Wilt team needs which are perimeter shooters.
I would have like to seen a high ast% PG somewhere in the mix but there are some decent options in the undrafted
pool.  All in all this team should be a winner.  Can Wilt take scud to the title?  I know he can write some decent evals
anyway.

Pacific
slymonium: Shaquille O'Neal, Andre Drummond, Anthony Davis, Jose Calderon, Kawhi Leonard,
Kenny Anderson, Kenneth Faried

Shaq is still bitter over the fact he was not chosen to play Buddy in the movie "elf".  So the most
dynamic post player in WifS will take it out on the rest of the ODL.  Sly teams O'Neal with 2nd rd. pick
Andre Drummond creating a very exotic combo package.  Andre another one of the New Kids on the Block
will be a giant rebound & defensive help for Shaquille.  3rd rd. pick features another NKB performer in
Anthony Davis who previously played RB many years ago with The Raiders.  A.D. brings even more
boards from the SF position.  His defense is superb and he's a very good scorer when asked.
Nice 4th rd. pick with Calderon his '07-'08 is solid efg% (57.7), ast% (34.8), low fls (2.6) & shoots the trey.
Only downside is below average def (46) but he has plenty of help in the paint.  The entire basketball world
got to see just how good this New Kid on the Block Kawhi Leonard is during the NBA Finals last season.  He gave
Lebron fits in every game and was a big reason the Spurs won the title.  Great pick in the 5th round and he should
go higher.  defense (90), efg% (57.6) and a good defensive rebounder.  Very efficient player!  Anderson - hmmm
what a long long career he had and plenty to choose from most aren't all that impressive.  Gives sly extra mins.
and won't hurt you too bad.  Doesn't really matter with this team.  '12-'13 Faried is a winner and a super sub.
Great versatility and value.  This club looks tough and slymonium is one of the front runners for next seasons evals.

iccoachb: Magic Johnson, Tyson Chandler, James Harden, Danny Granger, Rasheed Wallace, Chris Andersen,
Joe Dumars

Magic is a great pick at #21 he does so many great things in the sim.  Of course the dimes, solid defender and low fouls.
Will score efficiently but his TO% ranges in the 17.5 - 18.5 range and this may be why some of the other PG are taken
ahead of him.  If you want a great defender and a solid rebounder who has great value then Tyson in the man.
Very much a Dikembe Mutombo clone in that his best Defensive rating has lower rebounds and vice a versa.
Still Mount Chandler is a great pick.  The Beard in the 3rd brings great value and fits very nicely with Magic.
He passes well and is deadly from beyond the arc.  When he drives to the basket there is no one better.
Such a skilled and crafty ballhandler!
I can see why you would want Granger on your team.  Solid defender and another deadly shooter from the arc but
at SF his rebounding is too low and this will hurt you in the ODL.  Danny could have probably been drafted later
because Tyson needs help.  Rasheed hmmm plays decent defense (D rating 70s), Shoots 50+ efg% but doesn't
rebound well enough to play the 4.  He's a good SF but the ODL is a league full of stellar SFs.  Speaking of stellar
Andersen off the bench is always a good substitution and coachb finally gets some help for Chandler.  A solid 6th rd.
pick.  Not quite sure why Dumars isn't used more in these theme leagues.  Solid Def (80-90), lo fouls,  good shooter.
This is another team with a strong backcourt,  solid Defense. Looks like rebounding could be a weak spot and this
could be the clubs downfall.

jcred5: Artis Gilmore, Scottie Pippen, Bobby Jones, Charlie Ward, Josh Smith, Mugsy Bogues, Ryan Andersen
For Artis his '71-'72 ABA season is big I mean really BIG (59.8 efg% as a sample)! I mean SHOW ME THE $$$$ BIG!
which translates to $10.5M WifS bucks.  '75-'76 is a bit more reasonable and still features very impressive numbers and I
like the 24.1 usage% better which helps make up for his unacceptable 18.0 TO% (just too high).  Pippen in the 2nd rd is
just a steal so many great years.  I especially like '95-'96 and all those 3PAs.  No better defensive SG in the ODL and
he'll be challenged with 8 games against MJ.  Bobby Jones is a smooth clean shaven pro and another defensive
golden nugget.  I really like his '75-'76 season with the ABA Nuggets (100 D rating) but plenty other gem years to choose
from at a more modest price.  Charlie Ward brings tremendous value to this league and is always highly sought after.
He's 24 mpg so you'll need more help here but a great start covering your PG minutes.
Josh Smith another stellar SF in a league just brimming with them.  '09-'10 def rating 90, acceptable efg% 50, decent
asst% 14.9 & can even block shots BL%3.6.  Looks like he'll have to play PF though and his reb% is weak at the 4.
Mugsy is an OL staple and a very nice salary stretcher.  Gives jc some value and should be able to run the show with
Ward on the bench half the game.  Ryan Anderson is always a great 6th rd. pick and he fills a beyond the arc need with
525 3PA and a 54.8 efg%.  Surprisingly tenacious on the offensive glass 12.6%.  It all comes back to the A Train if he can
control the boards.  The rest of the crew can play defense & score.  If this train gets a rollin' next stop playoffs. Toot Toot!

amerk1180: Dennis Rodman, Joakim Noah, Mookie Blaylock, Carmello Anthony, Demarcus Cousins,
Dave Debusschere, Goran Dragic

During the preseason Dennis contracts a mysterious and deadly disease.  He ends up stripping
naked in the first regular season game and grabs 40 rebounds.  However not realizing all the while
he was really at a charity tennis match in honor of the late Chairman Mao.  Very strange!
What can I say about Rodman that hasn't already been said.  Great Great rebounder & defender.
Noah surprised me with the 2nd rd. pick and to say the least an interesting pairing.  Another lo
usage rebounder & defender who also is a great passer.  Always a bonus for a post player.
Question which one plays SF or do either of them play there?  '96-'97 Mookie with his 604 3PA
is a big help for this team and establishes an outside presence.  Will this experiment work?
This team has gone as wacky as Rodman.  Yes Anthony will score by the bushel full and then ask
to be traded.  Really Cousins & Dennis on the floor on the same team at the same time.  A scuffle
is likely to break out.  Has any player ever been ejected from a sim game.  This may be a first!
Debusschere is Capt. Hustle and an amazing athlete but doesn't belong in the ODL.
Dragic isn't Magic and this team could be tragic!

theyard2: Chris Paul, DeAndre Jordan, Amare Stoudemire, Andre Iguodala, Chris Gatling, John Henson,
Mizra Teletovic

C3PO is everything Stockton is and brings more usage to the table.  So it depends on what kind of team
your trying to build.  Both are top shelf!  DeAndre Jordon is currently touring with New Kids on the Block.
His '13-'14 year puts him easily into 2nd rd. status and why not 67% efg and a 40 creb.  In a close game
foul him immediately during the fourth quarter.  Wow Amare may have a new lease on life with Paul.  Great
post scorer and should be asked to score on this team.  Iggy great 4th rd. pick he's so versatile and a few great
years to choose from.  Looks like he'll team with C3PO in the backcourt here.  Probably yard will use one of his
high defensive rating years '10-'11 (80) or '11-'12 (75).  Always shows up on winning teams in the ODL.
'94-'95 is a superb year for Gatling and a perfect back up for Amare.  Eye popping numbers decent usage% (21.2),
FG%+ (136), efg% (63.3) and a decent creb (32.5).  Below average defense (46) and fouls too much.  Still an
unstoppable scorer down low.  NKB  John Henson his '13-'14 season should make him an ODL staple off the bench.
Can score and is super at SF does everything very well.  Mirza and I have to be honest I never heard of him before.
Another of the NKB '13-'14 he shoots a three about every time he touches the ball.  He hoists up treys about once every
3+ minutes during his time in the game.  Other than that he's pretty average.
I'm not sure I like this team better than others in this division.  yard2 always brings a competitive team to the league and
I wouldn't be surprised if his team takes the division.  Beyond that who knows?

tarheel1991: Micheal Jordan, Tracy McGrady, Horace Grant, Darrell Walker, Ervin Johnson, Michael Redd,
Bismark Biyombo

Michael.  Only one name necessary and everyone knows who he is. A worldwide icon and great pick at #5.
Tmac with the 2nd pick makes this a full service backcourt.  He can play SF but reb% is too low.  I wouldn't
have thought to put these two together.  Can it work? Yes.  Will it work? I don't know. Lots of usage in the
backcourt.  Ho Grant is another versatile and great 3rd rd. pick.  A stellar SF who rebounds, plays great D
and can score efficiently.  Is the backcourt MJ - PG, TMac - SG & Ho Grant - SF.  If so this team is loaded.
Now who's at post.  Plenty of options still available.  Stayed small in the 4th rd. with Walker who seems to be
the low usage tonic for M.J. & Tmac.  '89-'90 is a great defensive rebounding year for a backcourt player (19.1%).
decent defense (61), ast% (24.8).  Will help at PG and can't shoot but doesn't matter with this team.
At Center '96-'97 Ervin has a big load to shoulder and I'm not sure he's up for it.  Good creb (37.2), blk% (4.9),
defense should better but WifS gives him a (66).  Redd will serve as the hi usage back up for those other two guys.
'01-'02 is a nice season and he should work out well and score some points while MJ & Tmac are refreshing with
some gatorade or a delicious soft drink or some comfortable underwear.  NKB Bismark can dunk, good creb (35.8)
and pretty good defense (75) but minutes are a bit light.  Tarheel will need to bulk up with the undrafted players
and there still are some good ones out there.  The question is can he afford them?  I'll be watching with others
to see if this crazy MJ/Tmac experimental rocket can lift off without exploding!

I'm pretty committed to using Hakeem's 84 season and the more obvious 2009 mavs Kidd.

nice work seapilots

thanks seapilots - good start!

Great job seapilots. Funny thing is when you beat me in the finals I thought to myself "at least I don't have to do those damn evals". Great start with these and I for one appreciate how time consuming they are, so thanks.
9/7/2014 10:14 PM
Great stuff!
9/8/2014 5:35 PM
Awesome analysis and speedy too!

You say.....Robertson's $10 M '62-'63 season is too expensive for the
ODL and his usage is way too high for a Lebron team. Perhaps the '69-'70 is a better option?

I agree on the former, the 10M is Very tough, but not sure his 23.6 usage is too high for a Lebron team. Doesn't lebron (or any 30+ usg guy) need a #2?
9/8/2014 7:01 PM
As someone with both MJ and TMac, I think you'll be OK with Oscar's usage ;)

yeah jkaye your right probably not too much.  That's what happens when I try to do 19 evals in two hours.
Putting 12 to 16 usage points in the backcourt can be tricky but it isn't dangerous.  It can be done by anyone at home or on the job.
Geez even in the bedroom. It's an awesome backcourt any way you slice it!

9/9/2014 12:31 AM
Well if you didn't like me before, you probably won't like adding Brandon and his 27% usg to mix.
There was a method to the madness. Hurts my reb, but helps bench usage and ast backing up lebron.
Looking back, I grabbed Oscar because I just couldn't imagine he would fall to 48. But it is a hard build. Not sure if my triple headed backcourt of Brandon/Oscar/Lebron paired with a pair of 89-90 def, low usage frontcourt Silas/Mutombo is a 35 win or 50 win team...

Maybe trading back was a bad idea, I was looking at my 6th or 7th options on my traded picks.   But we will see..
