Didn't like how the board fell to me at 12. Almost pulled trigger on Stockton then saw "The Dream", "The Admiral", and "The Mailman" in the division so I took Mutombo. Couldn't get another big man with my next pick that could play defense and rebound.
I just Realized I am in this division to and have no big man yet I am screwed.... But I don't know if I regret picking Pippen or not I guess I'll find out by the time the games start.

When you start trying to get some offense, you really begin to realize how much the 90's truly sucked for the NBA. Trying to find 20+% usage and 50(53)+% EFG is a huge problem.

Anyway Shaq+Ward+Armstrong+Ceballos are a good offensive quartet, and the others actually sort of cover for Shaq's 450 missed Free Throws. Of course, Armstrong at PG and Ceballos at SG make Ward a bench player......nice second round pick on my part.

Not to take anything away from Jordan or Pippen, but I was always amazed at how dominant those teams were despite the stunning ordinariness of most of the roster.  A parade of lumbering, limited guys at center, some spot-up shooters, a refurbished Ron Harper, a few floor-burn hustlers, and not much else.  Grant was fine and Rodman was a genius addition, but the championship Bulls always seemed three players deep to me.
The power of the triangle, along with a coach who new how to make it work to perfection

I though that too. The 80s Lakers and Celtics had more talent up & down the roster than those Bulls teams did IMO.

People never give credit to this, but the hand check rules basically let Harper, Pippen, and MJ switch everything and just maul guys. If you go back and look at their defensive numbers, this shows. Plus with Rodman on the court, a missed shot meant the end of the possession. All they needed was a fairly efficient offense (ie the triangle) and they were going to win most of their games.  If that team existed now, they are probably not as dominant defensively and they are probably a 55 win team when you factor in today's rangy big men who go out to the perimeter.

Eight picks in, I now have enough minutes and just barely enough usage.  The rest of the draft will be about filling in with stopgap backups that come with as few glaring flaws as possible.

Makes you appreciate how un-special the Bulls championships were, since the league basically sucked bear balls throughout the 90's. (Note the "Archer" reference ahead of the show.)
Whenever people cite Jordan's 6 rings as evidence of him being the best ever, I always ask them who the second best perimeter guy was in the 90s. Then after they say Pippen, I ask who was third. Richmond? Miller? Drexler? Mullin?

I feel good about my squad thus far - got my 8 man rotation and looking to fill in some specialist or option players.
I'm not too optimistic I've been baad baaad wrong before - but I'm liking my chances for the playoffs.

Hakeem Olajuwon 92-93 Rockets C
Robert Parish 90-91 Celtics C
James Worthy 89-90 Lakers SF
Muggsy Bogues 89-90 Hornets PG
Paul Pierce 98-99 Celtics SF
Bobby Phills 95-96 Cavaliers SG
Felton Spencer 90-91 Timberwolves C
Greg Anthony 92-93 Knicks PG

I fully agree with roadhouse that the Celtics and Lakers had more talent - and IMO - better teams-
I think that either would best the Bulls in a series - The Celtics would have a hard time stopping Jordan, but that interior - a good interesting matchup...

I think the near decade run of the Sixers is too often overlooked as a 'great team' and is overlooked too easily when speaking of the great teams. I think the Bulls and Sixers would be much better debate or a closer series than would the Bulls-Celtics or Bulls- Lakers. Think about those teams - They suffered a little in historical perspective because of the infatuation of Celtics Lakers rivalry - And I'm not a Sixers shill - I loved the Celtics and hated the Lakers - but come on, the Sixers were a beast, and for a hell of a long time period.

A very important component that is always neglected is the treatment given the NBA's main asset (& Nike & Gatorade, etc etc.) - Michael Jordan. I think he also benefitted coming after Bird and Magic and that Stern recognized that marketing him, and his nurturing benefitted the league much more than maintaining objectivity.

Sure he was one of the all time greats, but the treatment he received was much more akin to the officiating found in a home gym somewhere with the coaches uncle on the crew.

As a basketball purist - it was embarrassing to endure.

It was far from objective. While Magic and Bird and most any star receives beneficial treatment, the whistle that guy got screamed asset protection and was far from objective. He shoves Byron Russell to Idaho and not even the hint of a of whistle??

I think a series against the Celtics and Lakers where the other team had a similar whistle would be jarring to Jordan and to fans of the Bulls.
