Did I ask about type of outs?

So as a whole, it would be in the best interests of MLB hitters to reduce their strikeouts and put more balls in play.  You agree with this statement?

We're talking about types of outs.

It would be in the best interests of MLB hitters to reduce their out rates. How they make the outs that do happen, doesn't matter.
You're talking about types of outs.  I'm not.

Agree or disagree: it would be in the best interests of MLB hitters to reduce their strikeouts and put more balls in play.

You realize that strikeouts are a type of out right?

It would be in the best interests of MLB hitters to reduce the outs they make.
Why can't you answer the question as asked?

Here, let's try again:

Agree or disagree?: it would be in the best interests of MLB hitters to reduce their strikeouts and put more balls in play.

Wait, you just said you aren't talking about types of outs.

It would be better for MLB hitters to reduce their out rates. It doesn't matter if those outs are strikeouts, ground outs, pop outs, etc.

Why won't you answer the question as asked?

Do you not know the answer?

He's saying it'd be their best interest by making less outs. But how do you do that? By putting balls into play. By not striking out

I've answered.

It does not matter if hitters trade strikeouts for other outs.

It does matter if hitters trade outs for non-outs.

How many runs did strikeouts score last year? How many runs did sacrifice flies score last year? How many runs did Double Plays score last year? How many runs did groundouts with a runner on third score last year? Are we talking stats like batting average or are we talking about teams winning? An out is an out according to OBP but for teams and scoring runs, types of outs matter

If someone wanted to argue that teams score more runs when they strikeout less, it would be pretty easy to pull the numbers and see if that is true.

No, you're not answering the question that I asked.  You're twisting it into a different question and answering that.

Let's try one more time.  Please restrict your answer to either (a) I agree; (b) I disagree; (c) I don't know; or (d) I don't want to answer:

Agree, disagree, don't know, or refuse to answer?

You already declared that we aren't talking about types of outs.

So, it is in the best interest of hitters to reduce outs.

How they make the outs that do occur, doesn't matter.

Bleacher Report posted an interesting article about strikeouts and clutch rating 2 hours ago. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-evolving-link-between-strikeouts-and-clutch/

Got it.
