There are many, many reasons why the Confederate flag should be removed from all government buildings. The shootings in SC is not one of them. It's dumb to tie the two things together, as if the flag had anything to do with the shootings.
The killer was a crazy racist, shooting people in a state still flying a symbol of racism over the state Capitol.
It's time to finally take down the flag.

Part of dealing with these murders is addressing the explicit racism of the killer and the underlying racism in the South.
One small step in addressing the racism in the south is removing racist symbols from government buildings.

Removing flags from public buildings or monuments is not going to help "address racism" in the south. Billy Ray Redneck is still going to proudly hang his flag in his garage and in his basement. As well as on his truck and his baseball cap and on his wife beater t-shirt. And he's still going to hate all those wrong colored people without a flag flying on government or public property tomorrow just as much as he does today.
Removing the flag is the right thing to do as it's offensive to a large group of people. But you're really kidding yourself if you think it's going to be a "small step" towards addressing racism. The flag is a symptom, not a root cause. You don't address problems by attacking the symptoms.
