OK, I promise this is not meant as a troll to Laker fans, honest I loved the Kobe-Shaq teams (despite accusations that it wasn't really basketball), and cheered their victories over the Celtics.  But really Kobe is having a remarkable year.  As of now, according to basketball reference.com, he has a 30.5 usg%, shooting 30% from the field, 21% from 3.  He is also taking almost NINE 3pt attempts / 36min.  Good God!

He's over 400 min now, so assuming this keeps up through the end of the regular season, it could present an interesting challenge to put him on a team as a starter, and try to build a winning team around him.  What would that team even look like?  Load up on offensive rebounds so that missed shots = Kobe assists?  LOL  How could we structure the other teams to give a fair challenge?

It's been a long time since I've been on these forums, but I couldn't help sharing this crazy idea.  :P

You should be forced to take Mudiay too

Oh, my...   That team, no matter who else is on it, couldn't get to .400 in any reasonably competitive league.

I mean, you could test this out with 51-52 Joe Fulks.  He seems like the best comp.  Milan has too many boards.

Make Rose the 3rd guard.

Actually... Mudiay, Bryant, Markieff, Bargnani, Okafor with Speights, Rose, Wroten, and Singler off the bench. I will probably test that team out when the new players are released. They may go 0-82.

Joe Fulks as Kobe stand-in test--Gonna try this in the exhibition league. "What the Fulks". Went for another high-volume shooter at high % with high asst % (Curry fits that nicely), and another high asst% guard (Magic) to try to bring up Fulks' performance some; Rodman and Williams for offensive rebounds. Couple of high volume bench guys as well. We'll see what happens!

Only problem with this is that 2366 minutes of Fulks only cost $3,710,047. So it was pretty easy to get enough minutes. And that got me thinking that to really simulate Kobe's 'contributions', I should have had to leave about $5 million in the bank after setting the roster! ;)

4-6, but I read there was a difference in the exhibition sim engine and for purchased full seasons. Is there an easy way to summarize what this difference is? I wasn't aware of one....

There isn't a real "difference", but 10 games is a much smaller sample size than 82 games... Some players over/under perform drastically.

A perfect example of this is a short-minute Jamal Crawford that I found. In multiple exhibitions, he put up 50/50/95 shooting lines and averaged around 60 pts per 48. I used him on one of my first full-season leagues, and he sorta $h!t the bed. I've only used him a couple times since.

Also, the level of competition is generally higher in the full-season leagues.

Pretty sure it's a different engine (uses the same one as sim matchup).
Pretty sure you don't have the same number of coaching options.

It feels awkward to run counter to what ash says, but I feel confident in saying that I haven't noticed any missing coaching options between exhibition and full-season leagues. Maybe I'm missing something in the full-season leagues, that would explain a lot. As for the different sim, I know there's a difference between SimMatchup and SimLeague, but I think the exhibition runs on the same engine as full-season leagues. I'm really not sure though. I would ask admin, but the chances of them responding are slim and the chances of getting a straight answer hover right around zero.

Hmmm. Could have sworn you didn't have the coaching options to change tempo, defensive settings, etc. Guess I'm wrong about that, though, as I just checked and, sure enough, all of that is there.

Pretty sure there's no fatigue or injuries, though.

I have not seen injuries, but I have seen at least some "fatigue" effects. By game 10, there are usually a few teams with players at 0%, and IIRC this is reflected in the game results.

Exhibition leagues are essentially the first 10 games of a full season (same sim engine, same coaching options).
