I'm almost positive he's clueless.

He should read a book on the Civil War and the events that preceded it.   It can even be a children's book because I think he'll gain knowledge he currently doesn't have.

Maybe a coloring book would be more his speed.  But he'll have to work with the 8-pack Crayolas.  I don't think he's ready for the 16 or higher.

On a scale of bronxcheer to infinity, exactly how retarded are you?

Just because YOUR OPINION is that the Confederate flag is "a symbol of the south's fight to keep slavery legal" DOES NOT MAKE IT TRUE.

Repeating YOUR OPINION over and over and over and over and over again DOES NOT MAKE IT TRUE.

You DO NOT GET TO DECIDE what things mean to everybody.  Not even, IN GENERAL.

Hope this clears things up for you.

Is the confederate flag a symbol of the south's side of the civil war?
It's different things to different people.  There's no single universal definition of what it means, despite your insistence that there is.
I'm not asking if that is the only thing it means. I'm asking if that is one thing it stands for.

Yes or no?

Tec:

You said before that it the flag should not be flown over the state capitol building. Why do you think that?

Asked and answered.  Go look it up in the other thread if you're so interested.
Because it's offensive, right?

I mean, you already "agreed completely" that it is a symbol of racism. So clearly it's possible to evaluate the general symbolism of something even if it could have other meanings to other people.

I don't think anyone believes it will stop crazy people from doing crazy things. But it is a good thing to take down a symbol of racism from the state Capitol.
I agree completely.

Perhaps it would  be wise to ban short hair, tats and clunky boots on state capitol grounds.  They're obviously skinheads who hate blacks and Jews.    But, holy ****, don't you dare stereotype anyone in a turban and sandals.   You ******* RACIST!!!!!

You agree that the flag is a symbol of racism. So, clearly, you (and anyone else) can discern a general symbolism from something even if it might mean something else to other people.

Correct?
