Roy Halladay is indeed in third place all time on the list of pitchers' won-lost records against the Yankees. (min. 20 decisions).

As of 2010 he was 18-6 against the Yankees, though I am having trouble locating more up-to-date data. But pitching for the Phillies after 2009 he would have faced them quite infrequently at most. But as of that date he had a .750 winning percentage against the Yankees.

Two other pitchers have done even better. Two pitchers VERY well known to people here at WIS.

The Orioles trio ruined much of my childhood but don't make the top 3. Though I still want a do over of the last month of the 1974 season. Grrh..
Pedro and Maddux right?
My original guess would've been AJ Burnett until you gave that clue. Where's he on the list?
The answer is:

Number 3: Roy Halladay - 18-6 .750 W-L% as of 2010

...

Number 2: is.....Addie Joss 28-9 .757

and, the pitcher in baseball history with more than 20 decisions against the Yankees and with the best winning percentage against that team of any pitcher ever is......(wait for it...)

ready?....

Number 1: ...Babe Ruth - 17-5 .773

- tell me that is not a great piece of baseball "trivia".

So the real reason the Sox couldn't beat the Yankees for all those decades was that he was not pitching for them.

No it's because Babe Ruth is secretly a witch and summoned a curse on them that can only be broken by David Ortiz, who is also a witch. I mean, he's 40 and still hitting bombs

Who is the only player to have played in four major leagues?
4/19/2016 5:12 PM
I know Delahanty was one of the guys who jumped to the Players League, and then at the end of his career he jumped to the AL. I don't think he ever played in the Federal League, though... He certainly would have been very old.

What about Brouthers? He was all over the place.

And very dead. Niagara Falls took him in 1903.

That could be a problem.

Could always be a Weekend at Bernie's situation, though...

Since the Federal League didn't begin until 1914, I'd assume the four leagues are the NL, AL, Player's League, and American Association.

I'd guess Hugh Duffy. Pretty sure he played in those four leagues.

It is Hugh Duffy. skunk206 gets it in no time.

Duffy hit .300 career in all four leagues.

1. On April 17, 1912, the New York Giants played the New York Yankees in an exhibition game. Why?

2. Where did the Beatles hold their last ever concert?

1. Probably something to do with the Titanic...

2. Candlestick Park
4/23/2016 11:12 PM
The game was on April 21st.
4/23/2016 11:37 PM
toddcommish has both correct - the game was a benefit for the survivors of the Titanic. The Beatles' last concert was in Candlestick.

I need to look this up skunk206, thanks for the research, either I copied the date down wrong or one of our sources has a mistake. But it was that week in 1912.

Two new ones:

1. Who held the record for most consecutive games played in the National League that was later broken by Steve Garvey?

2. What player in which season scored the most runs of any player-season in the 1950s, 1960s or 1970s?

addendum: my source was the OOTP "story boards" which pop up while playing. Usually accurate I think, but wrong this time, the game was April 12, 1912.
4/24/2016 5:43 AM
1. I would have to look up.
2. I believe is Billy Williams
