Eichhorn's a good guess; he had 166 strikeouts in 1986, second most ever for a reliever in a season.

The answer to #2 actually has the record (181 strikeouts) and the third most (162), and he did it in back-to-back seasons in the 1960s.

Given the years, I'd guess Hoyt Wilhelm

That was a tough one because I think the guy is largely forgotten now: Dick Radatz. Played for the Red Sox in 1964, recording 181 K in 157 IP, all in relief.

Clues for the remaining questions:

1. Who holds the record for most strikeouts in a game as a relief pitcher? This guy's a Hall of Fame starting pitcher who was rarely used in relief.

3. Who holds the record for appearing in the most consecutive games as a relief pitcher? Two guys share this record, one a 1970s Dodger, the other a 1980s Ranger.

Dodger has to be Mike Marshall

1. Nolan Ryan? Nope.

I never would have gotten that Ranger reliever...

Can you believe Lou Gehrig stole home 15 times in his career?

#1 is the big unit, Randy Johnson

Something ignominious would be my guess. Lowest batting average and/or slugging percentage for a player with enough at-bats to qualify for either?

Fewest extra base hits in a season, 150+ games. A grand total of 7, in 1970. Quite anemic...

The triple play is indeed a rare feat in baseball, but on Sept. 2, 2006, the Tampa Bay Rays pulled off a first, even for the rarest of feats.

On that day, the Rays produced a triple play that consisted of a strikeout and two baserunners caught off base, against the Seattle Mariners.

With runners on first and third, Rays reliever J.P. Howell struck out Raúl Ibáñez, with Mariners third baseman Adrian Beltre running from first on the play.

Rays catcher Dioner Navarro fired the ball to shortstop Ben Zobrist, who tagged Beltré out. During that throw, Jose Lopez tried to go home from third, but Zobrist fired the ball back to Navarro in time to nail Lopez at the plate.

The play resulted in completing the first 2–6–2 triple play in MLB history.

There was brief discussion in the "What are you reading now" forum about Horace Clarke, and that its time to stop picking on him, above is another example of how bad the middle infielders of the that generation were.

Made it look easy, too!

A quadruple play can happen in a baseball game although technically it would be recorded as a triple play.

Bases loaded no out. Fly out to the outfield. Runner on third tags up and scores. Runner on second is thrown out at third and the runner on first is thrown out at second.

But the runner who was on third left to early and there is an appeal play to prevent the run from counting.
